Very cool and historic and comfortable! Great prices for a night. We loved the location right on the river. Our twin beds were super comfy and the bathroom floors were heated! What a cool hidden gem! The lobby was all decorated for Christmas and it was so beautiful!
had my wedding reception here in 1988. It was an absolutely incredible night. Years later my niece had her wedding reception here. I can't wait to come back again. Has a VERY important place in my life experience. ps had dinner with my late in laws in the gun room prior to our wedding reception.
The location and history of the building is really nice! Restaurant food was delicious! My cranberry apple salad with Salmon was fantastic! We had a few issues getting in the room and the elevator is iffy. Stairs are fine for me. I will go back.
Much of our experience is out of the staff’s hands. We have been to Marietta many times as our university plays Marietta College in football. We decided to make a weekend of it, celebrating husband’s birthday. Plus, the Lafayette has been on our bucket list. It’s a venerable old hotel and we should have been prepared for the odor. Due to a convention, when I made reservations in June, I couldn’t get a king room, so had to settle for the twin as queen doesn’t work for us. It smelled musty and mildewy, more so when the air conditioning was on. The two beds were very uncomfortable, too soft with deep depressions, one in the middle, the other on one side. Because of the smell and the beds, we checked out a day early.|The bar was great. We enjoyed drinks and snacks provided by a cheerful bartender. The breakfast before we left was delicious with many great choices. The prices were very reasonable, and our waitress was great. We were also pleased that we weren’t charged for checking out a day early.
Didn't want to leave! This is a fascinating facility with a large, historic main floor with meeting/reception rooms, a bar and restaurant. Parking is free. Walking distance to museums, shops, restaurants, Marietta Brewing, multi-use trail along the river. Bed was comfortable, room was quiet. Coffeemaker in room. Bathroom had a wonderful retro feel to it (but everything worked fine).|Good complimentary or discounted breakfast in the restaurant, depending on what you order.|Only complaint is the cardio machines in the fitness center barely work.
The Lafayette Hotel excels in location, location, location! I|I never stay anywhere but the Lafayette hotel when I visit Marietta. I will concede that there are more recent, more modern places to stay, even better amenities for an old man, but there are none with a better location and a better bar and view. ||It’s an easy walk from the Lafayette to all the small businesses, brew pubs and small eateries on both sides of Front Street. Strolling on front Street is not exactly the Champs Élysées but it’s where the action is in Marietta and it’s cheaper. Not too far away is the old Railroad bridge, now converted to a pedestrian bridge, crossing the Muskingum river to the Harmar neighborhood of Marietta where you are literally a couple minutes away from one of my favorite watering holes, the Harmar Tavern. It has the ambience of a welcoming neighborhood bar and a new outdoor patio to boot… and if you stay long enough, everyone knows your name. Enjoy!||If you are a history buff and don’t mind walking further, you can walk back across the pedestrian bridge and go to the Campus Martius Museum at the corner of Second street and Washington Street. Don’t miss that bunch of telephone poles sticking out of the ground like huge tooth picks stuck randomly in the ground. Those poles were the unique idea of the museum to illustrate,in dramatic fashion, the height of the major floods in Marietta. I love the idea. I can look at the pole for the 1936-1937 flood and line it up with the house where I was born on front Street during that same flood. Luckily, my parents rescued me.|It’s now time to stroll back to the Lafayette hotel, perhaps returning on the opposite side of the street. If it’s time to eat, the Lafayette hotel is only a stones throw from the best small gourmet restaurant in Marietta, the Levee House Bistro, right on the Ohio River. ||Finally, if you are simply tired of walking, gazing and shopping, then relax in the wonderful bar of the Lafayette, with an unparalleled view of the Ohio River. Trust me, you will be mesmerized by the sheer length and volume of the barges that ply the mighty Ohio river. Why would you ever leave… why, oh why oh, would I ever leave….this place.
Positive: The location overlooking the Ohio River. The front desk staff was very personable. We stay here every time on our way heading South. Negative: It is a very old hotel and shows its age. That said, it also adds to its charm.
The only negative was the temperature of the room. It was too cool for me; however my friend didn't mind it. I loved the location-- we walked to restaurants and it was close to the Ohio River so we could enjoy the view and go walking.
Informative museum with lots of local and regional history. As with many museums, one visit does not do it justice!

What a great find! In town for a sporting event and ate here. Food was great! I had salmon, roasted red potatoes, and asparagus. My husband had the Lafayette salad and then the fish and chips. Our server, Julie was a ROCK STAR. Beautiful setting on t
We had a very interesting quick tour of this museum. It was very informative trip. They had some rare exhibits, I remember buying some posters of some stern wheelers from this museum.
A darling little place. Amazing bartender, very personable, sweet, and helpful. Pool tables, juke box, heated outdoor smoking area. Loved the margaritas ð¹
I ordered sausage biscuits with milk to drink. Huge biscuits with thick, fresh-tasting sausage. Dining area can get crowded but for good reason: the food is really good. I would go here before I went to any of the national fast food chains for bre
Amazing place for lunch. We had the Pretzel bites with beer cheese as an appetizer, BBQ Burger and the Protein Bowl. The Burger was great and their fries amazing. The Protein Bowl was Rice with veggies, a good portion of chicken and an amazing sweet
My friend & I were in Marietta & we needed a place to eat before heading back to NE Ohio. It was the only spot open on a Sunday evening near where we were & it was a great choice. The outside looks inviting with sidewalk tables to enjoy if you prefer
It was very cold this day, no wait for seating or service. Had a great server, quick drinks, no grits that day but had a wonderful eggs Benedict classic with a side of sausage links. Very good. Eggs were perfectly poached, my wife had waffles and bac
