Laemmle Town Center 5 - Movie theater in Encino - 17200 Ventura Blvd UNIT 121, USA

This is old school movie going. Been watching movies at the Encino 5 since 1997 and the place hasn't really changed. Perfect venue to watch an indie or proper drama made for adults. Love it.

A great local theatre that supports independent and foreign films alike. Usually also hosts a blockbuster or two as well. It's a smaller venue so don't expect it to have huge screening rooms with the top notch recliners or 3D, but it does have a very cozy vibe to it. The staff are mostly young, fun, and kind. I've seen some great movies here that I wouldn't have heard of otherwise, I'm grateful for this theatre! Edit: Ask them about the gremlin in their popcorn, it's DEFINITELY from a Christmas movie

Great place to see independent and foreign films. Prices are a little cheaper than the big theater chains. No spoiled person's lounge chairs, but that is made up for with a greater variety of film choices. Go to the larger chain theaters to see the blockbuster science fiction and superhero movies for a larger screen and better sound system. See everything else here... If you are in a rush, just remember the theater entrance is downstairs. Occasionally the parking lot is somewhat full, so you might need to drive a little for an empty space to open or be found. There are usually always spaces however. Free parking when many businesses on Ventura Blvd have meter parking... Sure, it could use some upgrading, but get over it, the ticket prices reflect it... BTW the theater chain is named after Carl Laemmle, the great film producer of the silent movie era and co-founder of Universal Studios, responsible for The Hunchback of Notre Dame and Phantom of the Opera, in addition to having his involvement with the talkies Frankenstein and Dracula. I believe the chain might still be in the family.

Great selection of hard to find films, and the chairs are pretty comfy. Easy, free parking, but the building and bathrooms are old and worn

The movie, Golda, was great, but I really prefer Studio seating. Although I could see okay, the seat in front of me was always in my view. The studio seating I have nothing in my way.

It's been a few years since I've been here but it won't be again! I loved my visit!! Friendly people serving popcorn WITH REAL BUTTER, super comfy, cushy seats, and all the art house movies you could wish for 💖 I just saw Past Lives and it reminded me why I love Indy films so much. I'll be back soon!

Very nice theater. Comfortable padded seats, reasonable prices. We saw an excellent movie, "Turn Left at the End of the World." It was a presentation of the Jewish Film Festival. It was about some Jewish families who emigrated to Israel from Morocco and India, and how they interacted in the small town in the desert where the only work was on the assembly line of a soda bottle factory. I recommend both the theater and the movie. And there's plenty of free parking.
