La Vieja Castilla - Spanish restaurant in Blue Island - 13023 Western Ave, USA

I have to say this has to be one of the best restaurants my girlfriend and I have been to, not only because of the food, but because of the service. We were actually coming out of three sisters antique mall when we stumbled upon this restaurant. We've never had Spanish food, so we figured why not try something new. Upon entering you are greeted with a smile. Our waiter was very patient and helped us with recommendations. We felt very welcomed. The chef even brought out a portion of our meals with a warm smile. The food WAS AMAZING, from the lentil soup to the empanadas. We were smiling throughout the whole meal. The empanadas were golden brown and smooth, crunchy on the outside and tender and delicious on the inside. Any restaurant can have great food, but what stuck out the most from our experience is how the restaurant felt like HOME and that's what will make us come back

My family and I had a wonderful experience! The service was very attentive and friendly. I could tell they took special care with every dish they serviced. The meatballs and sauce was cheesy and delicious. The garlic bread was toasted to perfection. I live pretty far but I’d make the drive back to enjoy a wonderful meal again! 10/10 would recommend you try the food!

Our family stopped here for lunch after visiting the Cedar Park cemetery IL. This is a family owned small restaurant with all members working. Food was very good and we enjoyed every dish we tried. If going with a large party best to call ahead as seating is limited. We really enjoyed being served fresh garlic basil bread toasted and cup of lentil vegetables soup. Are meals came as expected hot and fresh as all orders were made upon ordering. Chicken ceaser salad wrap was large enough to share between 2 people. We didn't order the flan dessert but was given 7 spoons and a sample for all of us. Amazing! We don't live close but our relatives are buried close so we will be going back to this family owned place. Nice job LA Vieja Castilla!

Nice welcoming atmosphere. Very friendly and efficient service. Went on Sunday afternoon and tried the empanadas and croquettes which were amazing. Best empanadas I’ve ever tasted. We will definitely be back to try other things on the menu.

An incredible paella in a spectacular place. You must try the garlic bread, which is exquisite and also the soup of the day is very tasty. I also recommend the fried calamari or if you want, the meat "pincho" are very good and also the empanadas which are delicious. And their house sauces are unique.

Absolutely love this place!! The paella is delicious as well as the albondigas de jerez and the goat cheese with cherry sauce. Truly a hidden gem in blue island and some of the best tapas ever! Highly recommend checking out La Vieja Castilla

Paella on the South Side!! Stop in and try it, you won't be disappointed! Alex is so accommodating. Service was outstanding! Mom & Dad were the added bonus! They kept checking on us, made sure we had everything we wanted. Try every Empanada, even the Vegan option (Spinach and Mushrooms) all homemade! Please call if you have a large party (4 or more) so they can accommodate you. The complimentary lentil soup and bread... Mm mm mm!!! And I don't eat beans! Didn't get a picture of that. Next time!

We were just looking for a quick bite to eat before heading out for a Saturday afternoon beer and happened on this delicious restaurant. The food was so good! We had an order of meatballs (which came with 2 cups of delicious soup and garlic bread), 2 empanadas, and the bill was $20!!! The service was great and the atmosphere was very relaxing. What a find for two people from western suburbs!
