La Playa Inn - Featured Reviews (199)
We had a pleasant 3-night stay at La Playa Inn that we arranged through Booking.com. Check-in and check-out were very smooth. It’s not a large hotel, but our Room 102 was certainly big enough for two and had a small patio. Nice bathroom, daily housekeeping, Mini fridge and closet. (no microwave, but there is one in the lobby.) Great location to walk to the beach, State Street, the Sunday art festival, Funk Zone etc. we did a LOT of exploring, and after a waterfront walking tour and another tour at the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden, I certainly appreciated the comfy bed and smooth sheets at the end of the day! |There is a Continental breakfast provided in the morning. Coffee, juice, granola bars, instant oatmeal packets, some of the usual stuff, The sign said the baked goods are from Santa Barbara Baking Co. (See photo) the ham and cheese croissants were pure buttery goodness. Delicious muffins and the best chocolate croissants I’ve ever eaten. Better than Paris! You won’t have to search for the chocolate in these croissants. And the hotel put them out early so I was able to grab one more for the road before we headed home to Phoenix. Thank you for that!
We enjoyed this hotel with my sister who visited me from Argentina: location, comfort and design of the entire hotel are a success! The breakfast system is spectacular, with variety and quantity that each guest can choose. All the staff is friendly, attentive and experienced! 100% recommended.
I have stayed many different places in Santa Barbara while visiting my son in college. La Playa is definitely the best value. Since it doesn’t have a pool or bar/restaurant on site you skip the extra price for that. I don’t use those amenities anyway since the beach is a block away and all the culminará goodness you can possibly imagine is a quick and beautiful walk away. The rooms are extremely clean. The property is new, clean and beautiful. The price is perfect for what you get. OH AND….THERE IS FREE AMPLE PARKING!
The staff is very very friendly. I’ll be staying again for sure.
The hotel was clean and quiet. The architecture and limited grounds were nicely maintained. The little contact with staff was positive. The garage parking was appreciated with onsite parking. The hotel property restricted one onsite parking space per room; this was a good policy! Their breakfast was a very limited Continental one...."Chad's" (formerly Sambos and pictured) was an easy walk down the street, offering full breakfast options with reasonable prices and great service, if that is your thing. Pictured is a park across the street; its facilities are limited and appeared only to cater to baseball playing.
We loved this place since we came in. |The service was very nice and helpful. |Their rooms are very clean, cozy and comfortable. |The whole property is beautiful and it is very well located. Just a few blocks from all the action and restaurants and the beach. |Very quiet and peaceful. |Loved it!!!!
Not to sound like a shill for the place, but we really enjoyed our stay here. Truly. The hotel was in great shape, very clean. Amazing architectural detail in the coved ceiling and smooth walls. I've never seen that in a hotel. Kudos to the designer.||We were here for an anniversary trip, a detail I noted in my reservation request. Not only did they respond directly via email, acknowledging this, they also provided a bottle of wine and a nice note upon check-in. Again, great attention to detail.||Our room looked out over the front parking lot, but we didn't hear any undue noise. The room had a Juliet balcony, that was cute. Nice Andersen sliding glass doors. Another unusual quality thing in a hotel.||The bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked. It's a little strange - it's mounted/situated on the side of the room. Maybe it's a split-type unit? Could be a little more effective, but it's a small nit.||The included breakfast was good, European-style, with pastries and cereal. Cute back patio and entry/front room in lobby.||My biggest nit was the towels. With everything else so nice, I was sorely disappointed in the towels. They were either stained, not white, or looked like they'd been well-used. I mentioned this to the manager. He said they were aware of the issue, and were changing linen suppliers.||The location was perfect. Just a few blocks from Stearns Wharf and a nice walk to the busy area with restaurants and such.||Highly recommend this hotel.
Such a great place to stay! Our room was clean, cute, and comfy. The bathroom had a shower/tub combo. We had called after we booked our room and requested to have a microwave in our room, and it was there when we arrived. There was also a microwave in the lobby. They also had a small selection of pastries and fruit out in the morning, a little fridge with yogurts, and a little coffee/tea setup in the lobby. Every employee we interacted with was friendly and helpful. Would happily stay here again the next time I'm in Santa Barbara!
Positive: Loved the design and aesthetics. Easy free parking, amazing fresh chocolate croissants for breakfast. Very well maintained. Soft, comfy mattresses and douvets. No complaints! Negative: "" Negative: ""
We loved our stay here! The manager/owner gave us great recommendations on hikes in the area! The location is perfect and walkable into town but quiet in the evenings. The room was perfect. We used their complementary bikes to ride to the butterfly b

Absolute perfection! Some of the best hospitality I have ever experienced. I forgot my hair brush and someone ran to the store and bought me a new one without me even asking. The staff went above and beyond in every way.

The best F45 I've been to. Class was packed with almost 50 members. All the coaches, specifically Coach Katrina, found time to motivate and challenge me through one of the best workouts I've had in months.
For me, my Bar Method classes are as important as taking my vitamins! I have been going regularly for nearly two years now and I feel so strong and healthy. The instructors go through a lot of training so you can count on having a good, challenging c
