Overall the hotel was great! The staff was super nice, from the lobby entrance all the way to the room everything had so much character and history, very beautiful. The room itself was spacious, had real wooden floors, a fancy restroom, and beautiful mirrors.
My problem was with NOLA as a whole. I was so excited to see the history, the french influence, the delicious food, and the culture as a whole but I was greatly disappointed in seeing many drunks, druggies, and homelessness. Although the hotel was right in the square and this would be great in other cities, I did not feel safe walking around or exploring the night life.
This is why I disliked the fact that the parking was in a separate garage with an additional cost, and I had to take it and walk back on my own at night.(luckily it was only super close). A few other things I disliked was that the hotel did not provide breakfast, and the elevators were super small (given that the building itself is a small space), so you would have to wait your turn. I hope to never come back to NOLA, but if I do this hotel would be an AWESOME choice.
We come to NOLA a couple of times per year and after discovering this hotel just last year, we have stayed here twice and will be staying there again in December. The rooms are nicely decorated and clean. Service has always been good and the front desk staff has been helpful. Really, you can't beat the location either! You get the French Quarter atmosphere, but it's still a pretty quiet area. This hotel has sort of become our go to place when we are planning a visit and it is a place that I recommend to any friends who are planning a trip.
Stayed 4 nights at this hotel. Beautifully renovated while retaining the charm of an older building. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was attractive, quiet, clean and comfortable. We parked nearby and walked everywhere as location was convenient for all of French Quarter, as well as near to the ferry for Algiers Point due to proximity to Canal St. Even walked to the National WWII Museum. Would definitely stay here again and recommend to family and friends.
The hotel is great - perfectly situated with clean and modern rooms.
The issues arose when it came to late check-out.
We had clicked on a link provided by the hotel to extend our check-out until 15:30. The front of desk gentlemen refused to acknowledge this and demanded we exit the building by 14:00. He refused to look at the email confirmation from the hotel and told me that I was not correct and he would charge me even more if I wanted to stay past 14:00. I was shocked by this and really ruined the last day of my holiday. I tried to reason with him and all he could say was "I've said what I've already said" which was plain rude and not an enjoyable experience. He then walked away from me at the check in desk.
We have travelled extensively throughout the US and never been treated this way before. We won't be back and I am shocked with the positive reviews you receive on this site.
This was the perfect location close to Bourbon Street but on a quiet street of Decatur. We were in walking distance to the casino, the river, all of the shops and basically everything to do in the French quarter. The Coterie restaurant right next door is absolutely amazing. The staff was very friendly, rooms were clean. I would recommend the rooms that face the street as opposed to the alley. Overall it was a great hotel and would stay there again when in the French quarter.
So I stayed 4 nights at this charming hotel and I was throughly surprised. It a boutique hotel and in close proximity to everything which was great but the only thing is the smell. You are in French quarter so it an older building as expected but there is a slight smell of dog urine in the hallway’s. This is a pet friendly hotel so accidents happen but sometimes too many can have its concern. With that being said the hotel rooms itself were extremely clean. I wipe my rooms down at every hotel I say, so to wipe and have no residue says a lot. I also could smell the cleaning products that housekeeping would use through the vent. This may be turn off for some but for me I know they scrubbing so I can appreciate it. The hotel is doing some renovations and upgrades so I’m sure it’s going to get better. But if you’re looking for a clean room, a couple of blocks away from the action. This is your place to be.
We loved our stay here!
It is in a perfect location, close enough to walk to everything in the French quarter and Bourbon street etc, but far enough away at night that it’s nice and quiet. The rooms were clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The staff were all lovely, especially Jennette who went above and beyond to help us with our check in process!
Highly recommend La Galerie :)
This is a great hotel. The location is perfect, you're far enough off Bourbon to be away from the noise and commotion but still close enough to walk up if you want to join. Lots of restaurants and bars and shops close by, Jackson Square just a short ways down. The front desk staff were nice. The room was very clean and comfortable, AC works great. The bathroom was a little small but that's not that big an issue. Parking is in the parking garage that's a couple blocks down. You have to pay for self park but it's cheaper than valet parking. Great price, overall a great hotel and great stay, would definitely stay here again.
