The food was ok, not great. The red sauce need a bit more tang or spice to it. It was flat.
We also found a lot of flies inside in the lights and flying around our food which was annoying.
This is a very nice, small, and quaint Mexican restaurant that serves very tasty meals to your delight. It is very cozy, quite, soft music playing, and with great customer and studious service. The order does not take very long, the food is very warm and hot, the meal presentation is outstanding and the service is fabulous. I highly recommend residents and visitors to come visit this restaurant and have a very full filled meal.
The food is absolutely delicious , the portions are great and the prices are good too. If we lived here, this would be one of our regular dining locations.
We had lunch and dinner here the same day because we enjoyed it that much and the dessert was great too.
The fajitas were good but the chicken enchiladas were not. The sauce was sweet for some reason and was expecting something a little more spicy. One thing I did like was that the food wasn’t overly salty. The guacamole could have used a little salt but I could have added that. BTW, the Google reservation system doesn’t seem to work with this place.
These reviewers have no idea what they are talking about. First, this is Tex-Mex, not "authentic" Mexican food. And BAD Tex-Mex.
The burrito had the beans and rice IN the burrito. Which means they are SCREWING their customer by reducing the amount of meat, beans, and rice that they are serving. The burrito had NO taste and no ingredients (besides cheese) to give it any character. I had to ask for salsa just to make it palatable.
This restaurant had the worst service of any Mexican restaurant that I've ever been to. Normally a Mexican restaurant prides itself on its good and fast service. This place was slow bringing drinks, never refilled waters, got NO free chips and salsa (standard at any decent Mexican restaurant), and was slow with the check.
Save your money and go somewhere else.
Food/Taste/Flavor: 3/5 - we ordered Mama's Kitchen Burrito & Combo Platter of cheese enchilada, chicken chimichanga, and carne asada burrito. Overall, the dishes were salty but the flavors are pretty good. Nothing fancy nor memorable but it satisfies. The dishes had the same sauce on it so it tasted very similar and we wouldn't have known the difference other than the tortilla and filling. The Mama's had rice in the burrito and the combo platter had rice and beans on the side.
Ambience: N/A - ordered food to go
Service: 3/5 - the cashier seems newer as he struggled with putting the order in and had to ask the server for assistance. They switched to Spanish to talk with each other multiple times while taking my order. We were quoted 15-20 minutes but it took closer to 35 minutes for the food to be ready
Value for price: 3/5 - a bit pricey for the average food
They were very good! The drinks were "meh" but the food was enjoyable. There are a couple other better Mexican restaurants in Estes but if you're in the area, La Cocina isn't a bad stop. The salsa was yummy and the chips were decent.
It was affordable and good value for the money. It's a little outside downtown Estes so you can avoid the hoards of crowds that come with the summer months. There isn't A LOT of parking so plan accordingly but we've never been there and not find parking. I'm not sure if that's an indicator of a bigger issue but it works well for us lol. They also have a food truck we enjoy ordering from as well. You won't go wrong coming here but like I said, some other places are a bit better!
Food was good and fairly warm. Poblano was not fully cooked. Chips and salsa were extra as was hot salsa. Bill was over 70 with two drinks. So a bit expensive for Mexican.

Good Mexican food for fair prices.
I especially liked the salsa - it has a nice heat without the usual overwhelming tomato taste. Service is often confused; they have lots of people that seem quite active but struggle to get anything done, several ti
