A lovely trail that made me feel like i was getting lost in the woods without actually being lost. The first half runs along side railroad tracks, and you know you're getting close to the stream as the ground starts getting soft. Very quiet and still, and the trail was well marked. There was only one other car parked when i arrived and we never crossed paths. A beautiful short hike that i will definitely take again.
Nice place for a short hike. Kid friendly. Good lunch break hike, if you are close. Once you are on trail off of Phoebe Snow Rd., the trail forks. The trail going off to the right is steep and short with little pay off. Unless you are a fan of railroad tracks. Staying on the trail slightly to the left takes you deeper into the woods. Some nice rock formations, a pond, and wildlife on this part of the trail. In mid-March I saw whitetail deer, a hawk, heard a very excited woodpecker, and finally, a bluejay. I bet it is a beautiful hike May through October.
great trail with a nice creek alongside some of the way. just short enough for young kids too.
This is a pleasant, easy hike of 1.7 miles with not much elevation change. The trail is well marked, has planks where it’s wet, and gives a few opportunities to touch down at the stream (or give your dog a drink). I was pleasantly surprised to see it’s a loop, not an out-and-back as Google maps and Footpath both suggest. Lots of Mountain Laurel and Rhododendron!
Second half of the trail is a lot more interesting. A nice short walk.
Lovely forest preserve. Serene, peaceful, and easy to navigate. Mid October is a great time to come to see all the colors and immerse yourself in some truly gorgeous nature. There's a picturesque creek running through the middle that will give your soul a much needed hug.
It's absolutely beautiful here! We had a nice time, the trail is about 1.7 miles long, so a decent hour and a half if you have children and are seeing all the things!

It looks like a simple place, but it's anything but. The chicken francaise was the best chicken with pasta dish I ever had. Even their salad was well-presented, and the housemade ranch dressing was just as yummy as the waitress suggested. The French
