If you’re looking for just a clean place to spend the night and take a shower on a road trip, this fits the bill. Don’t expect breakfast, but the reasonable price reflects that.
The room smelled very musty. The bed sheets were stained. Only 1 roll of toilet paper provided. |On a positive note, the beds were comfortable. we did have AC, frig and microwave. Woman running the office was very sweet.
If you're looking for a comfortable bed with great pillows and a clean atmosphere this is the perfect place. No frills. Tv a/c shower and mini fridge. Everything you need for an amazing beach weekend. All within a mile of the beach! Very hospitable owners as well, we checked in a little late Friday and they were more then gracious to accommodate our travel schedule. We will definitely be back. Thank you!!
I've stayed at the Krystal Penguin numerous times. My last stay was in the summer of 2017 when I wanted a day at the beach. Charlestown has some lovely beaches, particularly the State Park. The motel was perfectly adequate for my needs. No, it's no fancy, but the price is incredibly reasonable in the summer months. The owners are most kind and helpful . I love the "Penguin," as I fondly call it. My room was on the small side, but clean and comfortable. Added perk is a small refrigerator and good internet connection. Maybe a microwave, can't remember. I noticed someone mentioned a lack of coffee. For the motel rates, I found it easy to drive down the road and grab a cup of coffee. Very happy with my stay here!! I hope to return.
Great location for the amazing local beaches. Very reasonable price, especially compared to other local hotels/motels. Tv, microwave, and refrigerator in the room was nice. AC worked well. Was clean and had all necessary towels. Wouldn't stay there for an extended period but for a couple of nights it worked great. My wife thought the room had an odor is the reason for 4 stars not 5.
A basic basic motel in a good location for a good price. If you are looking for just a room to spend the night at a decent rate. The room was clean and convenient, but really just bare basics so bring anything you need. We had to go out to get coffee every morning and you have to ring the bell to get someone in the office. We stayed for a long weekend and really never really saw anyone around except when we checked in. This was fine for us. Someone did come in and make our bed everyday and gave us fresh towels. But the location was perfect for us. We took the ferry over to Block Island, drove into Newport and Narragansett. Would stay again.
Very older and musty, can’t hear the TV if you have the air conditioner on, extremely loud. The room was very humid and had allot of cob webs and plenty of spiders still sitting in their web. Makes you wonder if they vacuum and or dust!! Doubt it!! No screens on bathroom windows, so bugs are included in your stay. Towels are clean but no house keeping you have to ask for them every day. Also had to ask them to take our garbage daily. Rather pay a little more for a room and know it’s clean.. Was not happy at this motel.
Needed a room for the night, most hotels had no vacancy or were very expensive. Got the last room available here. Was able to see room before paying, very clean, extra pillows, great value. We were both very surprised at the cleanliness, and value. Easy check in and check out. Very quiet, close to everything. Will be staying here again on our next trip to Rhode Island.
East Beach in Rhode Island is truly a hidden gem for beach lovers. Tucked away from the hustle and bustle of the city, it offers a serene escape with its soft, white sand and gentle waves. The beach is immaculately maintained, allowing visitors to fo
beautiful indoor decor, very friendly service, clean bathrooms and eating space, and fantastic food (although a bit pricey) even if it was on the expensive side, you get what you pay for. I had a steak that was perfectly cooked with a spaghetti side
