this is such an awesome place with so much nostalgia. i did not expect there to be so much to see! from the largest peanuts collection in the world, to the intricate train sets, and all the toys for the kids to play with, this place is a gem and we will definitely be back when we have more time! also despite being such an old building it is handicap accessible which is a huge plus. you just have to ask for the elevator and they’ll get you where you need to go. great owners, super knowledgeable and really loves his history. and i love that it’s affordable! we came home with many toys from the gift shop because we could actually afford to do so. loved everything about this place.
The first and best toy museum so far I've ever see I love seeing all the toys from different eras, including a few from my own childhood.I also love the free pinball machines. Playing those games was awesome. My favorite room so far was the doll room, the miniature room, and of course the game room . I also, the kinetic room was good. I also like their little mascot named Loo, a cat that lives there. That's why I rate it five stars it's like walking back in your childhood in that museum great place to visit
Great museum with a diverse selection of historic items. There are model trains here of various scales, the Marx Toys section, puzzles, board games, knex, and more. Many of the displays are interactive for the younger crowd. Lots of Marx Toys which was fun to see especially the huge Big Loo robot. If you are a Peanuts fan there's a whole level dedicated to that collection. Very friendly curator too. The museum skews to a younger demographic but I feel older adults would actually enjoy this place most. The museum is in a repurposed historic school building with beautiful tin ceilings and moulding. Lots of the original details of the building remain down to the art deco era restrooms. For those musically inclined, I found about 5 different antique pianos sprinkled about the place. Fun to play each of them while appreciating the workmanship and "old timey" tuning they've all developed. If I was a local I'd go multiple times. As an out of towner, its an easy recommendation for anyone going through the Pittsburgh -> Wheeling area.
Visiting the Kruger Street Toy and Train Museum is a fun and nostalgic experience. The old-school toy and train museum is literally located inside a former school, giving it a very quaint ambiance. This place had several rooms full of old dolls, action figures, toy vehicles, pin ball machines, Christmas villages, legos, antique artifacts, and so much more. Each room had a different theme and can bring back so many nostalgic memories for people of all ages. The most impressive part was the massive model train sets that went through different themed villages. There was even a model amusement park with train roller coasters. The staff there is also very friendly and willing to answer all questions. It was a very fun experience and one I would highly recommend for people of all ages.
This place is so awesome. So many toys that I had as a kid. Plus all the interaction, free pinball .I smiled the whole time there. Great staff , they where so easy to talk to , truly wonderful people. I found some rare Batman pieces in their gift shop.
This place is enough to make even a crabby wife smile and enjoy herself. A real treat. Spend some time with staff for some stories as well
Nostalgic look back on childhood or bring the children to see this interactive toy and train museum. Set up in a reconverted schoolhouse each room is themed to vintage and modern toys, games, puzzles, dolls, miniatures, and hands on pin ball machines. Upstairs is an expansive Christmas village display along with all types of trains, moving train displays as well as individual and unique train pieces. Check out the various forms of transportation in that particular room where you will find things ranging from stagecoaches to ships and airplanes. Love Barbie and GI Joe? They are here too along with the miniature green fighting men from childhood. When visiting the doll room complete with doll houses ask to see the back room where they have overstock porcelain dolls, dolls with cats heads and bride dolls. An elevator is in the front but if you prefer to walk the steps you'll meet the resident cat. Outside is an actual caboose brought over from the B and O RR. Description of it is found in the gift shop. Fun for the entire family!
This was an excellent stop for children or toy enthusiasts. Old, unique and hard to find toys on display, which tend to bring back lots of memories and stories. Lots of interactive features throughout including a race car track, train functions, and pinball machines. It is located within an old school which is a museum in itself. Not really handicap accessible. I did not see any ramps or elevators so I would inquire before going. There is a gift shop and the exhibits do rotate throughout the year. There is also a train caboose that you can stay in for the night. It sleeps 4+. This was a great hour and half of fun for everyone.
