Kootenai National Wildlife Refuge - Wildlife refuge in Bonners Ferry - 287 West Side Rd, USA

A beautiful refuge in a gorgeous part of the country. I took the trail up to Myrtle Falls. The falls themselves are a bit hard to see due to trees but it was a pleasant short hike. The auto loop has a very well maintained road with a few wide spots. In all honesty the best time to visit isn't middle of the summer as there was virtually no waterfowl to be seen. My next visit will be for the fall bird migration when birds should be plentiful. All in all I had a nice visit.

Very beautiful place. It has a mix of mountains, rivers/creeks and valley plains. The main attraction seems to be the trail to Myrtle Falls, but there is more to it than that.

New Years day the husband,pup and I went for our first hike. This was a great hike and beautiful. The walk to the waterfall is pretty easy and family friendly. Going up past the Falls the trail gets pretty narrow and was really slick (it's winter). The restroom at the bottom of the trail was really clean! The Falls were beautiful and at the top it opens up and the view of the wetlands was breathtaking!!! Highly recommend!

Beautiful area. Cool wingspan exhibit. We only saw birds. Good for canoodling.

Short, mostly smooth, sometimes steep, but always beautiful hikethrough the woods to Myrtle Falls. Spotting scopes available at the rest rooms for viewing burds and wildlife in open areas.

What a beautiful and peaceful place. It takes about 15 minutes to hike to Maple Falls and it's such a serene setting. I highly recommend a visit.

With new construction, will create a challenge for waterfowlers for a few years. Not a place for hikers/walkers during the fall.

A great place for bird watches, plus if your up for a hike, there is a waterfall there as well.
