Knotty pine front royal va - American restaurant in Front Royal - 801 N Royal Ave, USA

We were visiting from out of town and the great reviews led us to the Knotty Pine. The overturned grease bucket by the dumpster should have been the clue to leave. But we went in to find a restaurant that was frozen in 1964, when it opened. We recognized the linoleum flooring from a house we’d lived in…in the 60s. The AC units had clearly been leaking, air vents not cleaned, and everything seemed covered with a thick coat of grease, including the menus. The blinds were so dirty, flies everywhere, poor lighting, and ceiling tiles appearing to be ready to fall. We could see where there used to be charm but it needs some serious TLC. There was no music playing but if there was, it would have It felt like we weren’t supposed to be there. Pros: The food was decent, very affordable, and the service was friendly. It definitely has a “regulars” vibe. Don’t forget your cash!

Loved it! Our server, Philip was fantastic. Everything was cooked to order. We had cheeseburger, double cheeseburger and hot roast beef. Our sides were fries. Though not homemade, they were delicious. The gravy was so thick and great flavor. We also had a potato pancake. The bill was close to $40 and definitely worth it!

My family went here for an impromptu breakfast and I have 0 regrets. Our waitress was so dang sweet. She knew the apteins coming by name, and made sure everyone felt welcomed. The food was so tasty. We got pancakes, French toast, eggs, home fries. Some of the most comforting home cooked style meals I've had in a while. I hope the owners of the building are able to get some funding to do critical structural repairs of the ceiling. This place deserves to have long lasting spot here in Front Royal!!!

Not bad. It’s a basic small town diner. What do you expect? They don’t pretend to be anything else. It’s cash only (something I respect). It’s not locals only but if you act like a jack-hole, they will treat you like one! I go in every once in awhile when I make it into FroRo.

This is a classic old American diner in the best possible way. The food is very good, the service is personable, and the prices are something everyone can afford. Kind of what Waffle House is trying to imitate. If you weren't around to experience these in the last century, you can still find it here and it's awesome.

Have been here several times, the food is always tasty. They have a southern kick to their food, the Honey Dipped Chicken being the best on the menu. It is hand-breaded at the Knotty Pine, fried to a perfect crisp on the outside, while being juicy and tender on the inside. You can't go wrong with a side of green beans either, flavorful ham ties it all together. You are able to smoke inside, and if it is crowded- some may have some trouble with the cloud, but usually it is not an issue. The waitresses are not the most personable, and do not expect them to come back and check on you more than once. Depending on who is working, ordering drinks from the bar isn't always the best idea. Some seem to be more experienced bartenders than others, and it shows in the quality of the drinks. The cooks are kind and easy-going, even more pleasant to speak to than the waitresses. I would recommend Knotty Pine for others looking for a delicious old fashioned meal at a decent price.

Nice old fashioned restaurant. This was a very friendly establishment. The waitress was friendly and she knew most of her customers. We were visiting the area and the food and service were superb. This is a cash only establishment but I would definitely recommend stopping by

A great locals cafe and bar restaurant lunch specials with salad and bread chili hot dog and Rubin sandwich all inexpensive and very good. Highly recommend if not wanting fancy
