Excellent history and beautiful scenery and buildings. A must see for people who enjoy history. The $10 preservation fee is for the tour of the inside of the Temple. The staff is very friendly and open to questions. Definitely worth the visit.

No building access and parking is at the nearby Visitor Center at 7809 Joseph St (corner of Joseph and Chillicothe Roads). So pulled on a side road to do a walk about. Fencing and nice landscaping surrounds the structure. It is on a hill top. No street light to entrance or exit. Small cemetery next to it. It was a lovely walk with late sun lighting building and headstones. Reopens March 1, 2023.

If you want to enter the Temple and you're not a member it's very easy just go see a missionary 😁 as far as entering this sacred building, it's now a place of business so you can enter during business hours, this isn't owned by the LDS church like other Temples. It's beautiful to see how it was built, it used to be a functional Temple!

LOVED visiting the Kirtland Temple! It is beautiful inside and out.🥰 The tour guides were friendly and knowledgeable, however the 3rd floor was used for the School of the apropos, not teaching children. The dedication of the Saints that built it is amazing, as well as the technology of the time. Ask the tour guides about the chaisms in the windows and ornamentation. It all tells of God's love and his faithfulness.🥰

I didn't go inside, but walking around the grounds is a beautiful experience.

Emotionally & spiritually moving experience. Start in the visitor center & be prepared to see such awe inspiring beauty when the movie ends, the curtain opens and the tour begins. Temple architecture is on another level of beauty, design, & function. It's one that mixes different styles like Federal, Greek Revival, & Gothic Revival architecture. Kirkland Temple was the 1st LDS temple which means it's is extra special. Visiting Kirkland is on another level & should be on your list of places to experience. Don't forget to travel down the hill to join the guided tour of the sawmill, homes, and general store that is part of this historical area. 45 mins away is Johnson Farm too. Bring a picnic basket and enjoy lunch here.

Have had wonderful walking tours of the village . Tells a great story of their mission. Dedicated and learned tour guides about history of Mormons . Best in summer with gardens at the temple . Some exhibits are excellent as dead sea scrolls were extremely important ancient religious documents . Also had an artist exhibit as the work of Viktor Schrekengost was spectacular.

This is a great historic site of special significance for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint and other faiths with Latter-day Saint origin such as the Community of Christ. The Community of Christ does an outstanding job maintaining the grounds and the temple. Their tour guides are excellent; very personable, detailed, and thoughtful. The temple itself has huge historical significance. As a Latter-day Saint, I have been very moved while on the tour while considering the events of great significance that took place in there. I have heard other Latter-day Saints claim they weren't as moved because the temple is not owned by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but that hasn't been my experience at all. Well worth the tour.
