Kindred - Vegan restaurant in New Orleans - 7537 Maple St, USA

Service was a little slow and nobody paid attention to us after the food was served. But the food itself was really good. Quinoa salad was amazing. Prices are a little high. Everything is vegan, so that makes this place a great option for vegetarian and vegan folks.

Although I wasn’t very familiar with vegan food prior to dining at Kindred, I enjoyed it! We had the mushroom poboy, the cauliflower poboy, and the barbecue cheese fries. The poboys were tasty and well seasoned. Although the cheese for the fries didn’t taste like cheese at all, and had more of a nutty flavor, they were still quite good. The mocktails were also tasty. The restaurant was very empty when we ate there, but the service was very friendly and warm.

This is literally the WORST FOOD I’ve ever had. I ordered Uber eats for myself and children and the 4 star reviews on here are all lies or from people who don’t know good food or can’t cook. I got the cauliflower Mac and cheese, along with 2 orders of the regular Mac and cheese, waffle fries and quesadilla for myself and children. The Mac and cheese had a strange taste and I’ve been vegan for years and never had Mac and cheese that tasted like that. The best word I can find is that it tasted spoiled. To the point where we couldn’t even eat it and it all went to the trash. My 2 year old couldn’t even eat it and she eats everything. The fries were over cooked. The quesadilla was the only decent thing and that’s very plain and can’t be messed with just a tortilla and cheese. Don’t waste your money on this TRASH FOOD.

Great vegan food at reasonable prices! Staff was great, lots of space to eat inside with no wait. The sandwiches, fries, everything really top notch.

This place is a gem on Maple Street. The fried mushrooms were superb. The service from Tucker was also courteous and prompt. The burger was really good although I would’ve put more mayo on it personally. Worth a try if you like vegan stuff. I was actually amazed that the fried cauliflower mac & cheese did not have any milk products. It really felt like actual mac & cheese.

I had the Brussels Sprouts as the appetizer. Delicious. I ordered the "shrimp" po boy (made with mushrooms). I asked for ranch instead of buffalo sauce. No problem! Also delicious. It came with a fresh spinach side salad. The waitress came and checked on me a few times. I ordered the chocolate mousse which was delicious. I would have preferred they didn't sprinkle it with hard red candy hearts. The surprise came at the end with the bill. They added 18% service charge. I checked the menu and sure enough at the bottom it says 18% service charge on all orders. I think this is a sneaky way to fool customers. If they want to charge 18% more, they should charge 18% more and list it as the price of the items. This changed my visit from a 5 star to a 3 star. Sad business practice

I love this place! You know how you have a go to feel good restaurant that you know won't miss with flavor? Kindred is my go to place for lunch and dinner in Louisiana. As a side note they have a great bar but the drinks below are mock tales. Atmosphere: laid back, chill environment. I wouldn't consider this place upscale. It's cozy and relaxed. Service: I've been several times and they don't miss. Friendly with great suggestions. Food: Slappin and priced great. Each item is under 20 but they're priced so that you can order more than one. I usually spend about $30 because I like to eat 🥴. You can definitely do it for under $20 per person. I'm never disappointed.
