Keaukaha Beach Park - Featured Reviews (424)
Keaukaha Beach Park offers a unique beach experience that's unlike the typical sandy shores you'd find in Hawaii. Instead of traditional beaches, you'll discover a grassy expanse leading right up to the water's edge. What makes this park special is its close proximity to the ocean, where you can marvel at the mesmerizing beauty of the Pacific.
The lava rocks that grace the shoreline add to the park's distinctive charm. They create a captivating contrast against the clear blue waters and are a perfect spot to explore tide pools and observe marine life. If you're a nature enthusiast, Keaukaha Beach Park is a dream come true.
While it may not be your typical sunbathing beach, the park is a tranquil and scenic place to relax, have a picnic, or simply enjoy the soothing sound of the waves. It's a hidden gem for those seeking a quieter, more natural beach experience in Hawaii.
Our church had our 4th of July picnic. The kids had a blast playing in the beach water. We had six children baptized in the ocean and there was plenty of room for everybody!
Hilo Breakwater Wall is located at Keaukaha Beach. This is a favorite place for fishermen and a fun or challenging trail for locals and tourists visiting Hilo. The trail itself is 4 miles out&back, with a little bit of elevation gain, and using street parking.
Since I didn’t have enough time, I only hiked one mile each way for the photoshoot. It was a unique hike and it offers incredible views of the ocean and break-wall. It was very peaceful in the early morning and very fun to jump around those wet lava stones.
It was a good spot to stop, stretch out my legs while having fun enjoying the sound of the waves, and picturesque.
However…if you want to hike this trail you should have a good pair of shoes, and check with the tide, as well as the big waves, before you hike this trail.
Beautiful views and kids can easily spend couple of hours swimming, snorkeling (on your own) and having fun at the beach!
Great snorkeling! Colorful fish.
A beautiful and serene place with lots of space to sit around for a picnic or read a book overlooking the bay and the ocean crashing on the rocks. Nice little areas for snorkeling too.
Beautiful beach! Lots of locals enjoying this lovely swimming spot. it was a really nice spot for snorkeling; we saw several schools of fish and even a few crabs. We are going to miss our time on Hawaii, but we are glad we got to see this particular little spot of paradise. Aloha!
Beautiful, well maintained park. Water area is very rocky, not safe for children
You can experience some out of the world views from here (plan for the sunset). And its a great drive, even if you do not plan to visit the summit. Please do not miss this spot in the Big Island!
Our airbnb host recommended this as a nice swim and hang out spot near hilo. He was spot on. Clean showers, black sand. Decent snorkeling. Some great boogie boarding waves out past a sand bar. Some beautiful ponds and resting areas for dozens of
Beautiful but tourist are disgusting, someone left a used pad on the rocks! Please if you come here, act like you have some manners and if you donât have manners please watch Barney to learn some before coming here.
Itâs an only outdoor sitting but they have canopies. Itâs basically food truck with seats under canopies so you can order at the food truck and get a seat and wait then they serve food to you. I ordered beef pho, dumplings and 2 cold noodles. It
I was able to drop in while visiting town and had a great time. The staff, coaches, and training partners were friendly and welcoming, and the gym has a great atmosphere. Great place to train in Hilo.
So thankful we stayed here, got a completely different and intimate experience from our first half of our stay in Waikoloa. Our room was right off of the front porch so we had a nice area to sit and unwind before dinner each evening. Brian and his wi
This was an excellent place to stay. The breakfasts were amazing, the grounds are incredible, the location is great and the rooms are cute. The details are very clear and straightforward on the website. The lack of A/C was not a problem for us.
Iâve had poke all around the Big Island and this poke is exceptional!! Highly recommend. Itâs a small take out window. Service was friendly and quick. The All Star Bowl was perfect. Love the tuna and the salmon the great sauces and all the other
(MUST MAKE A RESERVATION) What a gem of a place!! My partner and I have lived here for 3 years and just went today and we are in love! What a beautiful little place and an even more beautiful owner. We came to only realize that you needed reservation
I loved coming upon this place after walking to see King Kamehameha statue.
Staff was welcoming and friendly. They offered to show me how to make my own wrapping paper by pressing wood blocks into paint. Cool! I came to see the art exhibit, which was
Very pretty and informative walking path through an area with diverse plant life and good birdwatching. Most of the hike is in a gated (not locked) enclosure to keep pests out. The entire walk is paved, and there is a small observation platform along
This place was such an awesome time for the family. The waitress was really nice and accommodating even though she was busy. The music is chill. The video games were such a nice touch. Came at dinner on a Saturday and got a seat. Pizza had amazing fl
