One of my favorite hikes of 2023! Despite super thick ground fog keeping some of the view hidden from sight, on top was quite nice! I'll definitely be back on a clearer summer or fall day. The hike itself is fairly easy compared to taller neighbors in the area. P.S. Does anyone know how much it would cost to buy the fire tower? 😂 #housegoals
I don’t know about those who are putting this is a “short” trail. It takes about 3-4 hours to complete(coming from two, experienced hiking women in their 20s), not counting any time you want to spend at the top, but the view at the top is incredible.
Fun hike on medium-length, medium-intensity trail! Great views and cool fire tower. Do be warned that it can be very slippery, especially after the rain. Took me and my friend 4.5 hours round-trip including a couple breaks and some time on the summit.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND! just be careful towards the top there is still ice up top in mid May. I would classify this hike as moderate and advise beginners to avoid this one. The first 2/3 of the trail are fine but when you get to around the top 1/3 it's very rocky and extremely steep. Either way be prepared for a workout. It is definitely worth the effort for the incredible 360 degree panoramic views from the fire tower. Awesome view of majestic Mount Washington in all of it's glory! This is definitely a must on the list if your in the area.
Awesome views. I’m not an “experienced hiker” but I’ve hiked and mtn biked a lot- this is a challenging, steady climb hike. It is dog friendly. I made it up in just over 1.5 hrs (dog set the pace) I did it (today) in late June - had rained last night- a big stretch of rock faces to walk up after about 1.75 miles - luckily afternoon they were mostly dry or this stretch could be challenging (made it easy on Guinness as he found small fresh puddles to drink). Other spots were a little slick but you can generally step down rocks. Im 52 and did the entire up/down and ate a sandwich at the top and chatted briefly with a number of people.
Fantastic walk up to 360 views of New Hampshire and beyond. The only remaining fire tower in NH is at the top and offers brilliant views in all directions. Quite steep in places but I am a new hiker and not a gym goer but managed it in 2.5 hours. Trainers fine in summer but wear good socks! And bring water!!
This is a moderate hike, it’s very strap at many spots , not a leasurly walk. It also takes a lot longer than others listed Plan 3 hours to the top , there are a few great view points at the 1.5 hour mark but that’s only 1/2 way to the look out tower Took us a total of 4 1/2 hours total
Kearsarge North is has some of the best views in the White Mountains. It's not the most difficult hike but does have some steep sections. Get an early start to beat the crowds. Also, make sure you do this hike on a sunny day because the views from Chocarua to the northern Presidentials are amazing.
