Did trail a few weeks ago. Loved it. Rode it on Saturday and it was closed after mile 22.
The trail is fine for walking. It is dirt and pea gravel with lots of drop offs and ridges, so not good for road bikes, at least need mountain bike. There was a pit toilet at the parking lot, but it was disgusting and had no paper. The scenery was nice and I enjoyed being outside on the first nice day of spring, but I wouldn't go back
What a great resource. This trail is 33 miles one way to Westhaven. I don’t recommend you use a road bike unless you have wide tires (32+). There are plenty of rest stops and the scenery is beautiful. Note that the ride from Westhaven back to Kalamazoo is uphill but a very slight grade. Bring plenty of hydration and snacks or stop in Westhaven for lunch.
The trail is beautiful and we enjoyed our all-day ride the full length. There were signs along the trail to remind us where we are and also to point out museums, ice cream shops, etc. There were water pumps along the trail which was nice but they are manually operated which may not be easy for some users to do alone. There are pit potties too, however, the pit potties were not standard-nasty they were extraordinary-nasty... Could smell them before we could see them.
From being here twice on 4th of July and the day after the kalamazoo end of the trail is very pretty all 6 miles in I went. Not to many bugs either. First day in the morning, second day at noon and about the same. The tree canopy is great at controlling the temperature. It didn't quite feel like 90 degrees without the sun beating down on you. Couple roads to cross but traffic was very minimal. The photo was about 3 miles in. I rode a gravel bike and saw many road bikes doing well on trail. I also had a bike trailer and it road great. Road was quite firm. I wouldn't recommend this setup right after some rain tho. Might be quite a bit muddy
I love all rail to trail conversions, especially longer ones like this that give you the opportunity to get out and avoid traffic for a while.
Brilliant ride any day of the week. Well maintained, multiple pull-outs with picnic table, some with running water. Rails-to-trails, so not terrible uphill, but nice enough to enjoy on the downside. Great camping options near Lake Michigan and the western trailhead.
Awesome State Park and hiking trail in Western Michigan. Beautiful scenery especially in the winter months.

A hidden gem. Easy trail around a small wetland through a beautiful forest with a few old growth trees. We saw deer casually walking around, ducks on the water, birds, and frogs. A few areas cleared up to water for easy access to view the aquatic lif
One of my favorite parks in Kalamazoo â¥ï¸ there are SO many things to do for kids and adults alike. There is a large playground, clean restrooms, a picnic pavilion, walking path, tennis courts, basketball courts, a baseball field, a disc golf cour
Come to relax, come to play, come to let your kids run around like wild horses, climb like maniacal monkeys, slide like slippery seals and swing like modern day Tarzan. Soccer shots was going Tuesday night I went along with some bagpipe players along
Beautiful nature preserve in a nice, quiet area. You can get good exercise since part of it is pretty hilly. There's some nice little fun fact signs hiding back here. There's also a good variety of birds back here in summer.
I always love a good circle park where I don't have to move while seeing everything the kids do. There's super exciting climbing practice for them. But a bench closer would be great. Or easier to find parking?? Or bathrooms. I still recommend it's be
This park always has some kind of venue running almost every day. Within the park is the growlers stadium which has ball games on weekends. Although these types of games don't appeal to me, the stadium seems to be filled during the games. As for venu
Clean, well maintained park. I primarily use the disc golf course, which is challenging and fun. There are pavilions for parties and a nice playground.
This park has been revamped and is autism and handicap child compatible and friendly. It also has a dog park on the opposite side of the main park, so it's all around a beautiful area for picnics and everything else.
The waterfall and park are beautiful! My friend's one year old loved the slide! And the ducks were friendly, just waddled away when they realized we had no food for them, lol
