We stayed in campsite 14 (tents) for Labor Day weekend. It is a beautiful campground, plenty of space between sites, friendly camp host, clean bathrooms with free showers (wow, what amazing water pressure!!) and a small swimming area. We are hikers and the Lake Oauchita Vista Trail Joplin trailhead is just down the road (not close enough to walk easily), which is a beautiful trail. The only negative at the campsite was the ants-our site was infested. You could not put your feet on the ground without being swarmed, so I am covered in bites. I did not complain to the hosts as it was the last available site in the area on a busy weekend and they were swamped. Hopefully they address the above-normal infestation at that site at some point, because it was a truly beautiful site overlooking the lake in a quiet, peaceful cove. I recommend Joplin campground, just maybe bring any killer to be on the safe side.
Beautiful spot. RV camping spot was a close to the waters edge as you could possibly get. $24 ! For full hook-ups
Beautiful, awesome, one of the nicest campgrounds I've ever been to. They're starting to improve some of the sites so they can fit larger RVs. But with my little 21-ft dolphin I fit in fine. Trash pickup is pretty much every day in the camping section I was in there was three campsites, two tent and one RV.
Had an absolute blast here. Our annual 'man camp' landed us here and we spent 4 days hiking, fishing, playing cards and just relaxing. RV sites were great with plenty of space. We got a site right along water's edge which made for a really amazing time. Looking forward to returning in the future.
This campground is not easy to get to and it is still in need of lots of remodel for many of the campsites but the ones they have got to they are spectacular! Had to book our 2 sites 6 months in advance and from the pictures you can see why. Beautiful place.
Camp hosts are friendly and very helpful. Our site is spacious but needed some leveling. Sugar ants are present as are some biting flies. Bathrooms are clean but can use updating.
Great park. I was worried about our 33 foot travel trailer but, our site had plenty of space. I didn't see very many sites that wouldn't accommodate that size or larger trailers. Awesome lake with lots of bank fishing options. Boat ramp was also easy to maneuver.
Great place to kayak, extremely geologically interesting, clear water. Great place to look for graptolites, shells, and quartz. Campground was closed, as it was January. There is a swim beach and boat launch. Camp was easy to find, although google maps tried to take me down a closed road after I passed the entrance.
