John Brown's Underground - Cocktail bar in Lawrence - 7 E 7th St, USA

A lovely little cocktail bar with so many great drinks it’s hard to pick just one. Staff was friendly and attentive. A nice change from the college bars you find on Mass St and absolutely worth checking out when you’re in town. I can’t wait to go back and try more of the menu, they do change it every now and then so you’ll want to keep coming back to try what they come up with next!

Friendly staff and well organized to meet the needs of patrons. We walked in without a reservation and were provided both water and bar service at a side table (standing), then service at the bar 🍸. Would recommend making reservations if you are visiting during peak business hours on a Friday or Saturday night. Good atmosphere, delicious drinks served in unique glassware, and fantastic service from all members of staff.

100% amazing service and drinks. My wife and I were immediately greeted and treated like royalty. This bar is the pinnacle of what it means to be in the service industry. Bartenders are extremely knowledgeable and are proud of what they do, and it shows. The drinks (all cocktails) are incredible. The atmosphere is authentic and immersive. John Brown's Underground is a must visit.

I love this place. Beer used to be my go to when wanting a drink, but John Brown’s Underground has converted me. The crew is extremely creative, friendly and serve up some amazing tasting cocktails. Always a good time with friends.

This may just be one of the greatest bars I’ve ever been to. In any city. Incredible cocktail menu, ambience, and the staff make the experience. This is a gem!

Sure cool and hip hang in a pretty popular college town. Make reservations if you want to sit inside otherwise outside sipping is your jam. Crazy selection of spirit! Very unique mixed drinks. No food so line you stomach before you go! We loved it!

December 2022 update: This continues to be my FAVORITE spot in Lawrence!!! Excellent service, knowledgeable staff, and fantastic bartenders. They are like a second family to me and my friends. Indoor seating can be reserved in advance via their website, and I love how slick their new booking system is. It's worth driving from all over the Midwest to drink at this ICONIC cocktail bar!

Some of the best drinks and service in town. I was a patron of this bar for a year and never had a negative experience. The people are incredible and the cocktail program is one of the best I have ever seen. During nice weather the patio is beautiful, but if you want indoor seating, definitely make a reservation online. I can’t recommend this place enough!
