Amazing place where you can learn about the inception of Raleigh. The tour guide was very thorough and elaborate when he walked us through every step of the place. Definitely recommended.

A hidden gem. You must take the house and garden tour with a docent - and these volunteers are passionate about the history and stories. Great little gift shop with some surprises.
We visited today from out of the country. The tour was , hands on and our kids ages 2-14 had a blast. Our guide was great and the tour was the perfect amount of time. Highly recommend!

Ok this place is one of the oldest homes in Raleigh and Joel Lane is the contributor of the first 1000 acres to make Raleigh the capital of NC. I might be off with numbers but you get the gist. I was visiting from Virginia. Must see for your self step back in time. Staff is very knowledgeable and pleasant thank you my lovely tour guide. Support your local historical land marks share in the past with friends and family! They honor the former slaves that help maintain the property with a monument on site.
Lived in Raleigh for my whole life. Was trying to go for the first time and thought I could do a casual, self-guided tour like Oak View....nope. everything was locked down during daytime hours. I probably will not try to go for another 52 years.
