Food had no flavor in it
Service was horrible I told them that it was my first time and I still received the service that I got. the drink had lil flavor little liquor really in it had no Kick
the waitress I had was just horrible . The whole time I was there I feel rushed and ignored at the same time. She didn't introduce herself. Before she became my waitress she treated me as if I was a child. Amazingly she got everything for table next to me had and everything they needed while ignoring me. she will not be getting a tip from me and I'm a good tipper. Even if I wasn't a she will not be getting a tip at all. NOT A GOOD PLACE FOR "US" ITS FOR "Them"
Don't waste your time or money here like I did you're better off going to a real restaurant
Joey greeted, served and bartended. He was friendly, funny and attentive. We loved the classic margaritas and the cute atmosphere. Had the Gringo and OG tacos. Get 4, not 3; portions were in the smaller size. So good.
I gave 4 stars only because the OG tacos weren’t hot. Still tasty; just a little cool. We had a side of beans/pork. Very tasty. We will be back.
Colorful restaurant with great outdoor terrace and spacious interior dining spaces. The tacos were epic and the margaritas large and strong. The service was friendly and attentive. We had a wonderful experience overall.
I saw Jenny's Boxcar on a recent trip down to Iron + Grain nearby to get tea and relax. At the time, I had just eaten somewhere else and so was not hungry. This Sunday is a new day and I was ready for lunch somewhere. I made my way across the river and along Ben Butterworth Parkway in a lazy quest for something to eat.
I really didn't do my research at all before coming to Jenny's. This wasn't a problem by any means, I just didn't realize their main food is nachos, tacos, and tequila. I love street tacos, so this worked out fabulously well. I opted to sit at the bar and had a brief conversation with the bartender about the tacos on the menu. While she recommended a park taco with apples and another sweeter ingredient, I wasn't so adventurous and opted for the OG - marinated steak tacos with salsa, onion, cilantro, and a bit of cheese. These ended up being a great choice! The flavors were clean throughout, owing mostly to the small number of what tasted like high quality ingredients.
The space Jenny's occupies is definitely huge. There's a large amount of indoor seating available, plus more tables available on a large outdoor patio common to the other businesses surrounding. Dark concrete floors cover the space, with the walls a combination of painted yellow, natural brick from its prior construction, and a large vibrant mural along the easternmost wall. The ceilings are high and uncovered, supporting the HVAC ductwork, conduit, and string lights hanging throughout. It's quiet and colorful, definitely in keeping with the tacos and tequila on the menu.
After scarfing down the absolutely delicious tacos, the bartender and I talked a little more and I was convinced to try the cheesecake bites available. These came with a sweet strawberry sauce and a dusting of lime zest. These too, were perfection - the perfect way to cap off a street taco meal.
I really want to come back here at some point, possibly during a show at the Rust Belt just next door. Some live music would go great with Jenny's tacos and a beer from the Midwest Ale Works. We'll see when I can make this happen. Thanks, Jenny's!
I had the steak tacos, and they were absolutely delicious! Everyone at the table devoured their food! And if you're attending a show at The Rust Belt, like we were... it's right there! On top of that, our waitress was a delight! I highly recommend it!
Our server Gayle, was fantastic! Super energetic, gave excellent recommendations for food and drinks. Everyone happy! The new chicken verde pozole was lights out! Would recommend to everyone! Great location and great people! The owner Crystal is amazing as well. You can tell she puts her soul in to the business and that is why I will continue to come try new dishes!
Fun and funky describes Jennie’s Boxcar.
Located in a former industrial area, Jennie’s Boxcar is a great option among the other choices in this redeveloped area.
Indoor and outdoor seating was available. The bar looked inviting, but I was joining friends at a table.
The interior seemed roomy and open. Great colors and feel.
My table enjoyed the friendly service and the delicious food. Tacos are a mainstay and there are plenty of options to entice.
It was a challenge ordering drinks-so msny choices! Craft beers, specialty drinks, and an envious liquor selection. The tequila menu rocked!
Would I go again? Of course. And you should too.
The place is really nice and I didn’t expect the food to taste really good. I’ve eaten a in a lot of tacos place here in the Quad Cities but this restaurant has a different take on their food that doesn’t make my tastebuds feel saturated on that certain Mexican taste, which is super awesome. Even the fried ice cream is weirdly great. 🎉 The ambiance is seriously nice. The staff are pretty awesome too! We will definitely go back. 👍🏻
