Jay's Smokin' BBQ - Fargo - Restaurant in Fargo - 1322 Main Ave, USA

A friend recommended this place so we gave it a try for our son’s birthday tonight! The atmosphere is VERY clean, comfortable and relaxing. The decor is very homelike and American! The food is better than anywhere we have ever eaten, no joke! We had 7 people in our family there and had everything from their amazing brisket platter, to their Mac and cheese bowel, loaded nachos, and a couple unique delicious appetizers. The best part may have been our waitress Amy! It was like having a friend serve you dinner, a fun and funny friend! Our family can’t wait to go back!

First time there and I will definitely be back 'cause they were out of ribs!! The place was packed, loved the decor, had a pulled pork sandwich with fries. My only complaint was that the spicy BBQ sauce wasn't spicy enough for my liking.

Wow! Great brisket and pulled pork! Stopped in for lunch on a trip to Fargo. As a southerner, I had no idea what to expect from ND barbecue, but was blown away by the flavor! And then there were the beans…YUMMM! Our waiter, Garret was great to talk with and very helpful. Jay’s was recommended to another group we met who were also visiting. They, too, loved it! If I’m ever in Fargo again, Jay’s is a must!

Felt a little let down at this bbq joint after reading so many good reviews. Pulled pork and Mac and cheese were both good. Excellent bbq sauces. My dad ordered plate w/ brisket. Came out as chopped brisket. There’s no reason to chop brisket when ordered by the 1/2 lb, plate style. Mom ordered nachos- be prepared for carnival style cheese sauce. Potato salad and salsa were both subpar. Service was sort of slow and didn’t have very lively vibes. I did appreciate that the chips were freshly fried.

Things I liked - There were various seating options available including high top booth, short booth with high privacy backs, and table seating. The food came out hot and was presented well. All of the meats had a nice texture, were juicy, and weren't full of unnecessary fatty pieces. The sauce bottles at each of the tables were nice and clean, not all sticky or covered in dried up sauce. The ribs had great flavor! Things I wish were better - While the pork and brisket were wonderfully moist I wish they had been more flavorful on their own. I would love to see them open later on Fridays and weekends in the future. I also wish they had been able to offer turkey at the time of our visit, but sadly they were sold out.

I will most likely have their brunch buffet every Sunday that I am able. It was awesome. They seem to do everything they can to accommodate you. You get brisket or wings with the buffet and the brisket is easily the best I’ve had in town. Most places make it very dry and this brisket was super moist and tender. Highly recommend

Terrible ribs that are completely stuck to the bone with small bone chips that will get stuck in your teath, and very small portions for the money. Brisket was ok but much better places in town for less. 24$ and still hungry for lunch.

RUN, DONT WALK FOR THE THE FRIED OKRA!! We saw a post from them in Facebook and decided to give them a try! Seriously so good. I think people forget about Jay's but I love it as much as No Bull Smokehouse, and parking is considerably easier to find! Staff were inviting and friendly. We got the 3 meat platter. I seriously thought the turkey was chicken, it was perfectly moist! I got the Brisket Philly also delicious.
