My mouth is watering just looking back at my own photos of this restaurant. I rode my motorcycle to Morrow Mountain near Albemarle, NC, I needed to get some lunch so my friend and I opted to try this place sight unseen. We had never been to Jay's Seafood Restaurant before. Had never heard of it. We rode from Fort Bragg, NC that day. Well, we were amazed at how much food they had and how fast they could replace it on the buffett. I saw the restaurant on Google Maps but, I did not realize that it was a buffet. Hot fish, hot shrimp, hot peach cobbler. Cool strawberry shortcake, ice cream on top of everything else. I had stew beef and rice, country ham, fried chicken, biscuits, and more fish. Anyone reading this should just go ahead and check their hours on Google Maps then head on over there. For a very low price, you eat till your heart's content. Better food and service cannot be found in the Albemarle, NC area!! CASH ONLY mind you!
This place is a "diamond in the rough". We enjoyed immensely . If you love nostalgia and good " down home" cooking, you will love this place. Family owned business for over 60 years. There is a Buffet for $15.00 that's has seafood as well as all the other dishes normally served on a Buffet. Price includes buffet, salads, soups, desserts, drinks and taxes. All you can eat! All good. You may also order from extensive menu.
A favorite of mine. I order from the menu because I like broiled seafood. I rotate between shrimp, scallops or combo plates.. A salad with dessert is included. The buffet usually has great choices and my husband like to get it. Last time we visited he got grilled salmon and it was delicious. The staff is usually very attentive and always friendly and helpful. FYI, they don't accept credit cards but they have an ATM on-site. They have a separate room for larger groups. There are two separate entrances & two dining rooms. Enjoy!
Heard about this restaurant by word of mouth....drove an hour just to get there....BUT IT WAS WORTH IT!!! It's out in the middle of nowhere...and just a heads up it's cash only...we all got the buffet...shrimp and flounder and catfish...and other country style offerings ate on the buffet....the fried chicken is amazing!!....great little spot...will definitely be back!!!! Loved it!
Simple country cooking in traditional family style atmosphere. The fish is great but I actually found the chicken and dumplings were my favorite! The employees were polite and friendly.
This is a locals Sunday after church place to go, so come early. The fish and shrimp was as good as you would expect down calabash way. My wife loves shrimp so she ordered a large. Way too much food.. took what was left home. I opted for the Sunday buffet which was loaded down with Sundays best. Come by and see the good folks at Jay's, why don'tcha I just don't see why wantcha.
I stepped back into my past tonight. Fond memories of this place and family. We stopped in tonight and is was as good as ever or better. Fried fish, shrimp, fatback (I never passover fatback), chicken livers. I hurt myself trying to enjoy every dish.
It had a while since I've eat at Jay's, but it was worth the wait. And since I had a craving for eating different selections,the buffet did not disappoint. Everything from the waitress to the food was awesome!!

Service was slow, but that's expectable these days. Waitress was nice, friendly. The Gouda grits were pretty good! The pigs in a blanket taco was amazing. That smokey bacon with the spinach, feta and eggs was so good, especially the smokey bacon.

I love going here near Christmas time. They have things that you don't normally see anywhere else and some candy you can't get anywhere else. Prices are great if you don't want the brand name stuff. But I mostly only shop here around Christmas time.
