FYI, it can be a little difficult to maneuver with a stroller so i advise leaving it in your vehicle or at the ticketing area which is what the gentleman told me who took our tickets. i didn't have much high expectations but i was truly amazed and at ease when we visited this hidden gem of a garden. it's so big in what seems like such a small area but they have a ton of stuff packed inside. we saw beautiful trees, bridges, japanese buildings and just an overall calming area which seemed very quiet and relaxing even though the rest of the park is extremely busy. i advise you to double check the time that they open and close because we went right before sun down and it was very enjoyable with not too much of a crowd. lastly, i highly suggest ordering some of the tea at the small building near the entrance as it was delicious and piping hot when they served it.

Peaceful. Not too crowded if you visit during weekdays. Might not be ideal for small children due to crowds. Great backdrop for pictures.it’s definitely a must see if you visit San Francisco. When you arrive at the entrance it seems as if the garden will be a quick walk but once you navigate your way inside, you realize the garden is huge and there is so much to see. The tea and snacks were delicious. They have plenty of seating and the staff is friendly and welcoming.

Amazing Oasis in a beautiful park. This is a great place to visit and feel like you were transported right to Japan. It is a very relaxing place for a stroll. The garden is not huge though. It took us about 45 minutes to see the whole garden. They have beautiful water features and a fun bridge to climb up and over. It is a great exemplar of various Japanese garden styles. Admission is $14 for adults although there are discounts for students, children, and San Francisco residents get in for free.

First of all, please refer to the information you want to know as it is free for one hour from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. The interior of the garden is larger than expected and it is a typical shape of a well-organized garden. It's right next to the Deyoung Museum and it's very good for a walk in the morning. It is recommended, and souvenirs sold inside the garden are relatively expensive. Is a recommended place

I had a wonderful walk through the Japanese Tea Garden. I spoke with a gardener, and really enjoyed their knowledge and friendly nature. The grounds were gorgeous! Some of the garden was closed, but you could still see everything, even if you couldn't walk every path. The zen garden was so peaceful. I enjoyed staying there a while. I loved the stone walkways across the pond and I challenged myself with climbing their incredible bridge. The gift shop was small and packed with lovely ceramic goodies! I bought the garden pass for $28 and it granted admission to the Tea Garden, the Botanical Garden and the Conservatory of flowers. It was good for three days! I'd highly suggest purchasing entry that way, especially if you like garden walks. I spent two hours here, even though it isn't a huge garden. If you are only here for 5 minutes you didn't appreciate your visit, and that's on you.

Was a peaceful morning visit. There's a cute restaurant in the middle of the garden. Would recommend having their steaming matcha while staring into the pond. (No ticket needed if you come between 9-10 so my online purchase was wasted. Wish they had stated those on the website though!)

if you haven't been to japan, this is probably the closest you can see in person its gardening art, old/ancient architecture & culture. it's a zen-like, serene & beautifully manicured garden. having said that, the scale & details of, well, everything, are a bit underwhelming IF one is to compare to (or have seen) the original versions of similar temples, lakes, kois' ponds, monuments etc. sorta like listening to a greatest hits albums of a great band 😉 all the elements & spirits are there, but it's really not the grandest version of their art & culture. but it's a good & worthy experience and one that will certainly nudge you toward a full blown trip to japan. i would recommend it.
