What a great little gem in the middle of Knoxville. Very well maintained and lots of information regarding life in the early years of Tennessee history. As a woodworker, I especially liked the original pieces of furniture they had on display. Definitely worth the time to visit.
My friend and I spent a fun afternoon at the James White's Fort in Knoxville, Tennessee. There is plenty of free parking at this location. Admission is $10 per person unless you're a senior or military. The employee checking us in asked us many questions to determine what our fees should be. I think he was being either nosy or friendly. He didn't like that the both of us were originally from California. Visitors are allowed to wander on their own and open cabinets in the rooms, just be respectful. My favorite room was the upstairs bedroom. When we exited the Fort, the employee told us about two sets of Californian visitors who got into a fight and I asked did this just happen today? He responded no, this happened like 5 years ago. I am thinking why the heck is he talking about it like it just happened. Had a marvelous time. We spent around 1.5 hours here. Edited for spelling corrections.
Showed up during working house. Waited 30 minutes and the doors were locked. Cars in parking lot but not a soul around. Upsetting to go out of your way to see this location just to come to locked door when they are suppose to be open. Tried calling and no answered. If you’re driving through the state and going out of your way to visit this site. I wouldn’t stop unless you call in advance and get ahold of someone. Would of been a wonderful place, if it was actually open like it was suppose to be.
Historic site. Dosents do an excellent job relating information. Host to several patriotic and historical events each year! These photos are from the 2023 Independence Day Celebration.
James white fort is the site of the first home in Knox County from this land the city of Knoxville was born. It was cool to visit and see how people lived. They give you a paper guide with audio options so you can listen while you walk. A must see if you are a history fan of any sort.
What a wonderful hidden gem. Highly recommend this stop for a nice overview of history here in Knoxville. Well maintained and Mr. McGinnis was very personable and knowledgeable about the history of the station. Nice little gift shop as well. We highly enjoyed our stop and would recommend it for anyone wanting to see some truly well preserved, well presented history.
It was worth it to see, and the paper your given for you self guided tour is very informative. 10 dollar seems a little high for how long it may take, but worth it for people who will really study and take it all in. We spent about an hour there and looked at everything, and read the given information. I would recommend it for anyone who loves history, but don't expect to take much time there.
Staff was knowledgeable and very pleasant. The information was available via printed document and SoundCloud. SoundCloud was recorded and presented by the staff. It was a historical gem near the knoxville center.

It was absolutely wonderful finally getting a chance to stop in this place and meet Melanie. This shop has only been open for a few months, but you can tell she pours her soul into every cup of coffee every day. Daily meal specials and all home made,
My cortado was served properly with a glass of sparkling water. Many cafes omit this. I prefer it and will return for that fact alone. I like the interior with functional study/computer space. Itâs intimate and was mostly full, yet appropriately qu
