What a great local place for a walk. Lots of trail options, you can walk around for a very long time! The trails are marked with maps at each intersection. If it's been raining there is a small section of sticky mud otherwise it's nice gravel or grass paths. Great for bird watching and porta potties here n there!
This place has the most beautiful birds in Hillsboro. A lot of migratory birds can be seen chirping and passing by this wetland. I went here for a plantation event organised by friends of trees. Happy to have planted 36 plants in this area. It’s a beautiful place for a picnic. Very calm and peaceful
Awesome trails to walk up and down and around. Gives you a little nature get away not too far from the city. Keep a close eye on bushes and hiding spots for all kinds of creatures. We got to see a huge Neutria on our visit.
Always a great place to spend 2-3 hours. The visitor center has some great info. Also worth checking out and adding your own sightings of birds and animals. One of the loops has bird homes all along with beautiful tree swallows and the wetland had cranes, geese and egrets. There were also some wildflowers when we visited. Bring a hat and some sandwiches and enjoy nature.
Love this place. Great for teaching young kids about animals and their habitats. They have classes year round to teach about all sorts of subjects (related to animals in the wetlands) as well as some seasonal events for the kids (like a mini festival/fair/petting zoo with animals and small games).
Most of the staff is phenomenal and very friendly; I did have one encounter with the front desk woman who was not so pleasant when I mixed up my times and showed up early to a class for my daughter.

Great place to experience nature in the hillsboro area. Parking near the nature center can fill up quick on nice days, but generally very quiet on the further out trails & there are always spaces at the hillsboro entrance. Certain trails can flood or be muddy depending on the weather.
It's a nice preserve. Green and scenic. Nice trails around the ponds, I would visit again. Free which is nice. They only have porterpotties for bathrooms
Beautiful morning spent here was exactly what my soul was craving. Highly recommend getting here nice and early so you can catch the morning birds and all of their songs.
