J Timothy's Taverne - American restaurant in Plainville - 143 New Britain Ave, USA

I've always loved the wings here, can't go wrong with dirt style, rated highly among many food critics. The options are to sit downstairs near the bar or upstairs in a cozy area with a view of the TV's to watch the games. Great selection of CT local brews and plenty of cocktails to choose from. Ample parking is to the side of the building and the building includes a neat circle for front door drop off. The staff are all very friendly and the service is great. Overall, I highly recommend it for anyone to stop in at least once or twice. Well worth the hour drive for me

My boss was in the area of J Tims. So of course we had to go...I must admit it's been 10 years too long since I went. But it was just as great as before. We order way toooooo much but it was great to have samples of a bunch of the appetizers. I told her we had to order the wings dirty style. And she is from the midwest and they didn't disappoint! Always order dirt style ;) We ordered soup- chicken and rice for myself. Homemade soup. Fried wontons. Buffalo cauliflower. Which was amazing as well Service top notch. Very attentive and made sure that we got plenty of celery and carrot sticks.

1.26.24 Our party of 8 sat upstairs, which was a little loud, BUT the service by Enzo was superb. He got our drinks and food quickly, checked back many times, he was a great server but also great people skills. The chocolate peanutbutter pie melted in my mouth and sharing it with others was hard. We ordered 2 buckets of wings which came out fast and were hot (temperature). Everyone loved them. The rest of the menu looked good too and we saw amazing dishes around us between the steak, chicken salad, etc.

J Timothy's is a very busy restaurant/bar with an extensive menu. They are reasonable as far as the prices of their food menu items. They are known for their "Dirt Wings". I can take them or leave them, but I know many people that love them (this is obviously subjective). They are actually known for their Dirty (twice cooked) Wings. I had them while I was there yesterday and they were better than usual. Although they were more like regular wings and not as “dirty”. My wife really enjoys “The Big Salad”. That being said, I do enjoy the pot pie. There are so many great menu options here. I can't imagine that there isn't something here for everyone. Whenever we come here, it’s always so busy that we end up parking Way in the back, behind a neighboring building, which many other people do too, judging by the amount of vehicles that are back there. One nice thing is the area out front is set up so you can drop off people in front if the long walk from the parking lot is too much for them either due to weather or their physical limitations. Sometimes we can find a spot at the bar upstairs and avoid the long wait for a table.

I went here on a Wednesday night and it was packed!! It was just me and my boyfriend and we waited around 30 minutes for a table. We ordered 20 of buffalo dirt wings. And they were so good!! I like the flavor! This was my second time trying their wings. The first time I had them, we got takeout. I think they taste so much better when you eat them at the restaurant ! Our food came out so fast even though the restaurant was full. Our server was great. We were seated in the lower floor but he didn’t forget about us. Lol. Overall, this is a great place and I get why it’s so popular!

Absolutely love this place. This was our first visit but certainly won’t be our last. Get here early or expect a wait, it’s that good. For an app, we started with the Irish fries. Good, but huge. Very strong Gorgonzola cheese flavor, so if that’s not your thing, don’t go there. I had the dirt wings (if you don’t know, just try. You won’t be disappointed). I got two flavors, teriyaki and Asian chili. Both were amazing. These are not tiny wings, either, I brought half home. My wife had the Nola Sandwich, It was good. The mashed potatoes were excellent. The one let down was the French fries. I didn’t care for them at all. Great beer menu as well. Oh , one last note, tall people, watch your head.

Had a great time getting drinks here with my husband we did go close to closing and had a great time! Highly recommend their french onion soup!! New England Clam Chowder was also fantastic. Their wings are PHENOMENAL as well !!

My experience was okay! I wasn’t a fan of my dirt wings and I felt that there was too much cheese on the tater tots poutine but I enjoyed the fried mozzarella and the bread pudding! The service was also really good!
