J-Stel - Hotel room in Brooklyn - 1036 E 12th St, USA

The hostel was very clean and the location was great, right off the subway. Unfortunately they were doing track work and it was very noisy, so it's not a great place if you're not a sound sleeper. We booked a queen room, but when we got there it was a double bed but the owners refunded us the price without a problem. The room was a nice size, but I'm not sure why they have no table or even a luggage rack when there is plenty of room. A chair or cheap table would have added a lot. It's a real Brooklyn neighborhood with great fruit markets and kosher delis. However, everything closed early and we had to travel quite a bit to get a good meal. Be aware of Shabbat hours - we arrived Thursday night at 8 o'clock couldn't find an open restaurant.

Perfect for a city-trip to NY! Very close to the subway in a safe neighbourhood and the house has all the comforts to keep it budget! The shared kitchen is big and complete, there is good Wifi, comfortable room (we had the attic), clean bathrooms. Stayed here with Christmas, nice and quiet and not even cold at the attic!||There is a Tckts-booth close by and way quieter than in Manhatten!! ||Absolutely recomendable for the low profile traveler!

We stayed here for a week and we had a wonderful stay. This hostel is not as expensive as the ones in Manhattan. The communication with the city is great, there is a metro stop nearby. It is a quiet neighbourhood and the rooms are nice and (shared) bathroom clean. You have a complete kitchen and a nice living room, I can recommend it to everyone!

The rooms are big. Bed is decent. Comforter sheets are awesome. The location is perfect for what we needed. There is a refig and a tv in the room. The downside is there is two shared bathroom for five rooms. One of the showers did not work the diverter knob was broken. There is also a shared kitchen and narrow stairs. I always felt safe. There is only on the street parking which is not always close by. The price is right.

I can't say anything special about this hotel It is just cheap and near a subway station. Located in Brooklyn, seems in jewish qarter. Not a pleasant area, but people say it's safe...||After reservation you get a code to enter the hotel and there you must call to know your room number and get a key.||My single room was very noise of metro train. Impossible to sleep even with earplugs. The bathrooms were quite clean, it has kitchen too, where you can cook or make tea/coffee. For a night, if you have very limited budget as i had, it may be ok.

Bedroom and bathroom really clean. Very quiet. We stayed there for 4 nights in May. The airconditioner made a lot of noise, couldn't sleep with it on. 35-40 minutes to Manhattan, subway just a block away.

We arrived at the J-stel to find a posted sign from the city of NYC indicating the build was unsafe. Do not book this hotel!! The owner said it was ok to stay there. It clearly was not. I am not sure why it is still available for bookinf.

Not bad but I do not like the idea sharing restrooms. I do like its close to the Metro rail but this hotel is for a single travaeler. Not for a family. I did enjoy the different cultures in the neighborhood....................................................................................................
