My mom, husband, and I found J. Gumbo when we did a quick search leaving a memorial service in Terre Haute. We were pleasantly surprised at the fun, eccletic, NOLA vibe we received walking through the front door that just got more regional and extensive til you were dropped in "The Bayou" - the bar. Truly, the atmosphere was amazing! Beautiful artwork, fabulous build outs, and creative decor set a fun and festive tone that any NOLA fan would love and feel like home. We were met with friendly and kind staff who shared their favorites and most popular items. We each tried something different, and every one was delicious! Some of the best creole we have had this far north and made us miss our old creole restaurant in town. We have told everyone we know about J. Gumbo and are plotting our next one tank day adventure with the rest of the family and look forward to visiting again soon!

Amazing meal! We’ve never experienced a gumbo/Creole focused restaurant. The staff was awesome! They allowed us a small taste test to determine what we would enjoy. Ultimately, the food was hot and tasty! I will 100% add J. Gumbo’s to my “must-see” list when traveling in central Indiana.

We have been here several times for lunch. The voodoo chicken is pretty much everyone's go-to. Doesn't matter if it's on nachos or rice, it's pretty good. They have several toppings they offer, and you can add queso for a dollar. The only non positive thing I'll say is, depending on who you get will depend on how much chicken you get. There is definitely one guy there that rations the chicken. Overall a good place to go.

This is one of the spots I miss most about Indiana. When I was at Indiana State University 6 years ago, I could not stay away from this place. It’s amazing food. I now live in Florida and miss J Gumbos! Great spot and I had it about 2 years ago when I was in town visiting. Something special!

It was phenomenal, they let me try samples and I ended up getting the gumbo and my boyfriend got the voodoo chicken po boy it was spicy, powerful, and flavorful. I'm excited to try something new next time. The layout of everything made perfect sense too, from the drink station, leftover containers, extra sauce, and the dirty dish collection area. The bowls and the plate layout were cute and portioned wonderfully. Tasty and cute place!!

Like the decor of this place, this visit I was disappointed. The food was good, but could use more flavor, the food was not very hot. The bread was Luke warm. Maybe the next visit would be better. Update, when again and got the ettoffe, it was pretty freaking good and amazing. Heck

The food here used to be really good 5-8 years ago, so it was really disappointing to be given bland, slimy chicken gumbo. It feels like it isn’t even fully cooked, let alone spiced. Anyway, I would still recommend for the nostalgia alone, but I think the cook shortage affected some of the recipes. Update: I got food poisoning. I’d advise they check the temperatures.

I got a great tour from a very passionate and well-informed docent (I believe her name was Allison). More about the history of the man rather than the history of the house, it is free and worthwhile to see. The Eugene Debs was a prominent Socialist a

Our waitress Jada was amazing, very friendly and attentive. The food was delicious. I had the hamburger bowl and my husband had a cheeseburger with bacon and. Side of fries. The food came out pretty quickly and was very hot.

Nice peaceful cafe with a mean chai tea latte. Good ambiance and they hand you the coffee directly, good service! I think the place is named after their dog, Goose. It also has a drive thru, which can be handy for quick stops if you’re in a pinch f
