Very impressive from the moment you walk in for a European style cafe. We were greeted with a friendly smile and sat down at a table where no detail was left undone. The fresh flowers add such an upscale touch. Definitely recommend a fresh made lemonade, mimosa, or well crafted cocktail. The puff pastry was incredible, but the berry crumble dessert was so delicious. The service here is remarkable. My water was always timely refreshed, dishes removed almost as fast as I finished them, and we were checked on multiple times throughout the meal. We could not have had a better lunch experience. Thank you for providing a unique location for us to create wonderful dining memories together.
I believe this place changed names but possibly same ownership/partnership. Stopped by here while checking out the town. Was with my toddler, who...well...is a toddler. The older lady who seems to have been running the restaurant was very rude from the moment we entered. First telling me to walk back up to the front of the restaurant to request a table meanwhile the staff was right there who took me to a table. As soon as we sat down she pulled almost everything off the table so my toddler wouldn't break anything. Later on she came over to repremand my daughter for touching the wall because it's a mural. Which upset my daughter and she started to cry.
The food is pretty good, though. It's definitely low priced. You'd think the way this lady acted she was running a Michelin star restaurant...of which we have been to plenty and was NEVER treated this way.
Had lunch on Friday 8/9. The food was excellent BUT the exhaust system was so bad that I was unable to enjoy my meal. The restaurant became very smoky and it was so bad my eyes were running and I waited outside the restaurant until our food was ready and then again after I finished. When we said something to a staff the response was ‘we’ve been telling the owner but he hasn’t done anything…we get complaints almost everyday. We have eaten here before without issue, I surely will not return unless I know this issue has been resolved.
We went here for our anniversary dinner and I ordered the duck and my husband ordered fish. Mine came with potato’s and veggies. The potato’s had too much garlic and the veggies were crunchy. My husband felt the same about his meal. For $41/dish I was expecting much more. I would have sent back the meal but no one came to check on us to see how our meal was.
We drove 2 hours to get here for brunch. Worth every mile. The proprietor is very friendly, making his rounds to each table. Excellent service, food and cozy atmosphere.
For brunch we had steak & eggs, not just any steak....PRIME RIB!
Would give 7 stars! Fantastic food, foccacia, brushetta to die for. Then the best salmon we ever tasted, with potato gratin, fresh- squeezed lemonade. All was perfection! Very attentive service, even a candle with delicious carrot cake to celebrate our anniversary. Do visit!
We had lunch on a Wednesday. We were seated immediately. Service was excellent. Food was very good, as was the fresh lemonade. It was quite dark toward the back, though.
I lived in Culpeper for 23 years. This was always our go to place for special occasions. Since I moved in 2021, I hadn’t been back. My mom and I took my daughter there this weekend to celebrate her birthday. It was just as amazing as I remembered. John and his staff go above and beyond to make sure you have a great experience. You won’t ever be disappointed with dining here! Tell John I sent you and be sure you cut your strawberries…. He will know who sent you!! Haha The chocolate cake was amazing!!!
Itâs a wonderful place, preserved nature and a great location for kids to play. Itâs perfect to get some exercise, there are also two different locations for parking.
