InterContinental Kansas City at the Plaza - Hotel in Kansas City - 401 Ward Pkwy, USA

First off, our room had an excellent view of the city day and night! We had an accessible bathroom which was amazing, big shower with fold down bench. Bathroom floor was double drained, but most of the shower water stayed in the shower area. The mini fridge is so freaking tiny, lol. We could barely keep cold drinks in it, and it didn't even have a microwave. Room service is expensive, laundry service is very expensive, there's no laundry room. The Brisket burger is very very good, but the potatoes are always too salty from the hotel restaurant. The pool is wonderful when not overrun by kids, really needs no kids after 8pm. The hotel is beautiful and has historic statues all around outside. Very fancy, but a deep cleaning and maintenance touch ups are needed. Over all I loved it.

We called with a possible change in plans and Alarica was so helpful and accommodating in adjusting our room for us. And when we checked in she greeted us with enthusiasm and kindness! She definitely made us feel welcome and we can’t wait to return! We love the location of this hotel, the restaurant (American Slang) and there’s always live music adding to the fun of it all!

Love visiting the Intercontinental! We’ve been going here yearly for about 5 years and love it. This visit we were complimentary upgraded to a suite on the club level! Would highly recommend the club level, if available. It offered appetizers, desserts and breakfast! The pool is great and the lobby bar usually has live music on the weekends. It’s an easy walk to the Plaza restaurants and shopping. Will be back! Highly recommend.

We’ve stayed at lovely Intercontinental properties all over the US and in Europe, so we picked this hotel in KC - which turned out to be a huge mistake! Sadly, our experience here really tarnished the brand for us. We wanted extra space so we reserved a suite for our family, which are hard to come by on the Plaza. We spent $350 per night and therefore expected the 4 star experience as advertised. This hotel is a 3 star at best! It didn’t smell clean and look incredibly beat up. There were stains all over the hallways carpets and paint peeling in the bathrooms. The mattress on the pullout sofa was like sleeping on a chain link fence. We had to ask for several blankets to layer on top of it to make it tolerable. The parking garage was littered with trash. The lobby lounge area looked rough every AM as no one cleaned up the cups, cans, etc. from guests up late the night before. We ignored the pool entirely as we didn’t trust that the water was clean. The first day when housekeeping came in, they left us two towels and didn’t touch the beds or take the trash. We will be staying at the Fontaine next time for sure. Super disappointing!

I recently had the opportunity to stay here for business. I travel frequently for business and often I am disappointed with the level of customer service I experience while traveling. Not here!!! From the moment I arrived from valet, check in, servers, every person I encountered was pleasant, polite, and appeared happy to be there. As if they truly enjoyed working there. It was an exceptional experience all positive nothing negative. Keep up the good work, I noticed!

Highly recommend this hotel for many reasons. We recently stayed here for a Chiefs game. At check in, our reservation was not what I had booked. The gal that helped us, recognized this right away and corrected the error and even upgraded without us asking! The concierge room was the highlight. There is nobody better than Don! He lights the room up and keep everyone coming back for more. People in the hallways were talking about how amazing he was! In check out day, we needed a little more time and they didn’t even hesitate to extend out check out time. The grounds are beautiful, the lobby is amazing with live music, the neighborhood is beautiful and in walking distance to the Country Club Plaza shopping.

The Intercontinental is a great venue to host a work conference. All of the hotel staff that I interacted with were friendly, courteous and ensured all our needs were met. I felt they went above and beyond to make my stay comfortable. Unfortunately, I did not get the name of the woman at the front desk that helped me during my check-in and check-out but she was extremely nice and helpful! We hosted a reception at the rooftop ballroom and the view was gorgeous in the early evening. The servers and bartenders working the event were also great. I did stay in one of the suites and found the room clean and well-stocked when I arrived. I truly have no complaints with my stay and will be recommending we stay here again.

Kena at the front desk was amazing and provided excellent customer service! She provided us with the best experience we could have. Our room was upgraded & it was quiet at the end of the hallway with a view of the plaza. Clean rooms, excellent services, great bars, & the outdoor pool made the hot day feel better.
