Institution Ale Co. - Brewery in Camarillo - 3841 Mission Oaks Blvd, USA

As someone who really doesn't like beer, I had a great time! I had my first restaurant mimosa after 2 pm and a beer that tasted like chocolate coffee, called "Dissonance!" All beer tastes the same to me, EXCEPT this one. It's a trip! The pizzas we had were fantastic as well. We had a honey bacon and a fried chicken (*sandwich, ['cause pickles and mayo]) pizzas split between 3 people, and they were some of the best pizzas I've ever had! I took a few pictures of where I was seated, but there are two whole other seating areas (one by the register and another large area outside), and another that was under construction. There are games both inside and outside (dabu dee). Some pictured below; outside, I saw at least a pair of cornhole sets. I have to comment, too, that the "holographic" infrared on aluminum(?) art pieces on the walls are gorgeously displayed and worth stopping to take a closer peek at!

Super dog friendly, great beers and pizzas! The peach and prosciutto pizza was my favorite. I loved all the beers we tried as well. The pizza crust is almost like a cracker, which is great if you prefer the toppings to the crust itself, super thin crust. There were tons of dogs on the very large patio. There was about 3x more outdoor seating than indoor. Looking forward to going to this place again!

My first time there had a blast. Friendly staff. Cool atmosphere. I'm not a big beer drinker, but they had a nice selection and I found the imperial stout was very good. If you're not sure what you like they will let you sample

Started to eat my salad and realized there was a bug in it. I felt completely grossed out and took it back for a refund. I’ve always enjoyed the food here but this just made me feel uneasy.

Great local brewery. I love the pretzels and especially the margarita pizza is probably some of the best I've had. Lots of out for sitting since COVID hour they keep it.

Honestly one of my favorite places in Camarillo. Beers are amazing. Pizzas are amazing. Even the salads are amazing if you’re staying on that healthier side. You’re missing out if you’re not frequenting this place on the regular.

If I can give a 0 star review I would. When a young manager is putting a place as they make decisions for a business sometimes that leads to poor decision making. This was the case here. Very disappointed. We visit restaurants regularly. When your young inexperienced manager decides to make a decision without consulting with anyone else, it gives insight to how the businesses run. There are many options moving forward. We refuse to come back to this restaurant. McKenzie might be a good employee but unfortunately, the day we visited she fell short of every standard that a owner and or manager would be expected to represent.

The best brewery in Ventura County, that also beats out every brewery in Los Angeles County. Foremost, the beer is top-notch. If you love hoppy IPA's but aren't a fan of the Hazy/Juicy craze, look no further than Institution. I've never had a beer here that I didn't love. And the pint prices are fantastic and frankly shockingly low. Other local breweries – Tarantula Hill, Topa Topa, Ventura Coast, 14 Cannons, and so forth – all are significantly more expensive for mediocre beer. In addition, Institution has the best vibe of any brewery in the county – with massive indoor and outdoor seating options, arcade-style/pub games like basketball, shuffleboard, and darts, and great music (usually Millennial-era punk, rock, etc.). As an added bonus, the food is incredible. Their pizzas are top-notch and well worth the money, especially during lunch special hours. I love the new addition of salads, which are huge and extremely fresh. And the Pretzels are massive and delicious – exactly what you'd expect from a brewery. In many respects, Institution reminds me of some of LA's great breweries – Firestone Walker, Golden Road, Eagle Rock, etc. – but with beer that's actually good. It brings back fond memories of the fantastic breweries of OC and San Diego counties; being perhaps the most similar overall to Modern Times. Just go. You will not regret it.
