Inglis Bypass Recreation Area - Park in Inglis - 200 Spillway Rd, USA

2024-01-25: I have visited the Inglis Bypass Recreation Area at least a dozen times in the past couple of years before I started doing Google Map reviews. This is a small area, but it is very peaceful. There are a couple of covered picnic tables and Porta-potties. I really like the sound of the water spilling through the dam. Today, the water was much lower than I have ever seen it, and I noticed the flow of water was much slower. In the past, I have seen people catch catfish and Snook. I didn't have much time to spend here today, so the photos are pretty lame. I only saw one Cormorant today, but usually, there are a few more.

Nice little park tucked back in behind another park. Porta Johns for restrooms are available as are two covered pavilions. Be careful walking on the steep hills and rocks, have seen more than one person fall and injure themselves. And please throw your trash in the trash cans at the park! Nice for fishing or just walking. The spillway fishing requires a bit of technique and practice. The fast moving water and rocky bottom are something to take into account when trying to fish here. Snook, Tarpon, Bass and more can be caught here.

Tripping on acid that day, it was far out man,been going there for over 40 years. I've dove off the center of the spillway three times ,and i'm here to tell you still. One of my most favorite places.

Love this great spot! Do some fishing or picnic. Beautiful area to see wild life. We seen turtles birds mullet large gar sunfish and a huge gator. Nice pavilions. Clean porta toilets. A great spot to spend the day.

Well not much to do or see here. The prettiest part was going over the small bridge. I stopped here to eat lunch, it was peaceful but if your looking for fun this is not the place.

Hard to find behind the ball field. A very large gator hangs around the kayak launch. Unless you shuttle vehicles be prepared for a strong paddle back due to volume of water out of the spillway.

An excellent place to take a lunch., sunbathe, fish, meet your friends for a cook out, or even fly a drone! The downfall the grills for cooking out are all gone..so if you plan a cook out, take your grill.

Hiked the Inglis Island Trail.... 7.3 miles.. I think AllTrails said... Many different paths. Choose your destiny... Peaceful... Beautiful....
