Visited June 2023. Got an excellent gold oar specimen from a local mine. The individual running the shop was amazing and very knowledgeable. I was told by other shops to avoid this place. I now understand that those shops could not compete with this place.
This is by far the best rock/gemstone/mineral shop in Rapid City, if not all of the US. The selection available is absolutely unparalleled, the quality is outstanding, and the owners are incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. The couple who own the shop source all of the stones personally and have been doing so for the past 30 years. There are what feels like endless rooms of beautiful quality specimens and a giant case of jewelry with some additional specimens in the middle of the main room. It’s near impossible to leave without falling in love with something and buying it, so come prepared to purchase. Also, the expansive collection could take you hours to truly view if you are a truly interested collector, so make sure you block out the time in your day. The only downside is that they aren’t open every day or M-SAT, but they do clearly post their hours on the site, so it’s easy to find out.
Awesome shop! There were THOUSANDS of different types of rocks and gems and fossils, everything rock related! The owner’s husband was super friendly and knowledgeable. He helped us find everything we were looking for. There is some very expensive large items if that’s what you’re in to, but everything was very fairly priced, walked out for $25 with lots of cool stones!
Fun store with lots of selection from all over the world. Owners are a cute little couple who are very personable and helpful. If you like rocks or are curious about them, this is a great place to go!

Huge selection of beautiful specimens at very fair prices including the big ones. Owner is extremely friendly and very knowledgeable about their stock. If you're a rock hound this is the place to stop.
This place is amazing! The atmosphere is so positive and the rocks and minerals are gorgeous. They have beautiful jewelry as well. He told me his name and I forgot, but the owner's husband helped me and he was an absolute pleasure to speak with. He was incredibly attentive to my needs and so friendly. I will be coming back here on a regular basis. Thank you for making it such a great experience!
