Great place for a hike with your dog! Pit toilets though, so hold onto your phones! And don't trust a leash to keep you from falling in face first! 🤣 Only real issue is if your dog doesn't have good recall, they can easily escape into the greater Independence Grove Park. Every once and a while you hear about a dog that gets away.

My dog had an awesome time here! Love the lake in the middle to tire him out quickly.

Really great dog area, but can not emphasize enough that it is not 100% fenced. The gate to exit to the rest of the park is connected to an incomplete fence, you just go 10 feet to the side of the gate and there's a clear path that exits to the larger unfenced park. Also, the river is one border of the dog area and if your dog would swim across it they're in the unfenced area. I used a long 40 foot leash and that worked totally well. Bottom line - if you wouldn't let your dog off leash in an unfenced area, don't let them off leash here! Super fun area though, well maintained and interesting for the dogs. Also -- inspect for ticks! Even though it's November I still found one on my dog.

This was our first time here after buying the yearly membership for the county parks. We had been to a couple others but this one was the best by far! The dogs loved playing in the water and the trail around it was pleasant and not too muddy. We live in the city so this is such a nice change for our dogs. We will be back!

This is our favorite spot! Our golden gets to get out his puppy zoomies while practicing recall and socialization - and it's a beautiful walk in the woods! Fully enclosed by water, acres of trails, multiple beach spots for water loving pooches, and a giant field for a good game of fetch - this place has it all! Only downside is the outrageous /day-pass/parking fees ($15 County Resident/$30 Non-County Resident), though it does seem to be stringently enforced.

Large off leash dog park with an enclosed lake for dog swimming. Lots of trails and woods. It borders a river which cannot be fenced... If your dog will leave you and not recall, they will be able to escape via the river. I take my dog here often.

Unfortunately this park isn't completely fenced off. My English Setter pups ran out of it so be careful if you have a dog with strong prey instincts here. I really wish they would find a way to finish fencing in the park for the dogs.

Love coming here! People and dogs are friendly and considerate. Swimming for dogs, several little off-shoot trails, approximately one mile loop for main trail. Easy terrain, lovely area.
