ICONA Windrift - Hotel in Avalon - 105 80th St, USA

We had our daughter’s wedding here. The planning, food, accommodations and service was amazing. We received compliments from all our guests and our daughter and son-in-law were super happy. Jeff and Bill were very professional, friendly, and accommodating. Ronda secured our vendors and organized everything for us. She lead us through the entire process and exceeded our expectations. Everything was meticulously planned and executed. We are so grateful and highly recommend this venue and staff to others.

Pool is awesome and heated. Turkey Club was awesome for lunch with great waitress service. Buckets available for your favorite seltzers or beers. A shallow end of the pool for laying out. Plenty of chairs around the pool and overall good vibe. Beachfront is also a huge plus!

| |||With fingers crossed, I booked an accessible hotel room in the recently renovated hotel. I hoped that the price would ensure a careful design, but experience has taught me that an advertised “accessible room” is sometimes just that- words. ||| As we arrived, we were pleasantly surprised to find ample parking spaces designated disabled-only. The path from the van to the door was clear. The beachfront setting was spectacular but I learned soon that I was not wrong to cross my fingers. ||The lack of an automatic entry door into the lobby was the first minus. While staring into the glass door, I hoped a front desk clerk would spring into action, like most do, but the front desk faced away from the front door, so making eye contact with a clerk wasn’t possible. A busboy, whose shift had just ended and appeared to be waiting for a ride, helped open the door. ||Once inside, I rolled to the front desk . Most modern(ish) hotels have a lower-height surface so conversing and presenting credentials isn’t awkward but once again, no such luck. Minus#2||Getting onto the elevator to go up to the fourth floor room was tight for one wheelchair, let alone two. We had to take separate rides up, which is no big deal but things had not gotten off to a stellar start. -#3| |When at the room, I struggled to push open the heavy door. -#4 Thankfully, the carpet was an appropriate material but some furniture needed rearranging so the motorized wheelchair and scooter could maneuver obstruction-free. -#5 As I glanced towards the patio, disappointment strangled any joy I had. The two inch threshold to the patio presented an impassable obstacle.-#6 The bathroom was spacious with ample grab bars, however, the sink area lacked any shelves or hooks.-#7||Although the hotel had positive qualities, our experience left us wondering why certain details were overlooked. This unfortunate scenario could have been avoided if the developers/designers consulted with someone in a wheelchair BEFORE renovation. | |||

We had the best time at Icona Windrift! The Icona is a hidden gem of the Jersey Shore! It’s beautiful and super clean! Rooms are updated- chic white decor. The hallways have old photos from Avalon which were so nice to look at everyday. Great pools and hot tubs, with poolside food and bar service. Everything was superb! From the delicious restaurants ( I think they have 4) on site to the coffee at Icona Avalon lobby- food and amenities were excellent! Love music was such a plus! Everyone we spoke to was kind and caring- offering us local recommendations. One great plus was the free shuttle to Avalon or Stone Harbor- this was really helpful! We cannot wait to return to Icona Windrift again next summer to make a new family tradition!! Thanks Icona!

We had our beach-front wedding at the Windrift this past weekend and it far exceeded all of our expectations. Ronda and Jeff are incredible coordinators- they are professional, friendly, and go above and beyond. We had been planning our wedding for years and they have made us feel like we are their only wedding. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts! Incredible venue, hotel, and even better staff.

Newly refurbished 1960s oceanfront hotel. Second construction update in last 10 years. Price has risen considerably. May have out priced some of its former guests. Better value out of season. Hotel is beautiful and staff top notch. Quite an impressive hotel.

The Windrift used to be a great place to go for drinks and entertainment at night! They close early now. Have done away with all the fun things! Like wing night! The used to have bands or dj's during the week on certain nights. They still have some entertainment but early. Last call is 10 pm. Such a shame. All the staff were complaining about it ! Said it was a very slow summer. Thats probably why !!

Oceanfront room, gorgeous view, beautifully appointed room, and amenities. Excellent Staff , and very very nice valets, wait staff, front desk, pool and beachfront staff, and housekeeping. Just all around wonderful! 3 restaurants on site, bar on beach, shuttle service.
