Skillful and entertaining chef Zheng prepared us a yummilicious dinner on the spot. Good portion and its value for money.
The teppanyaki food was very well done, the sushi was very good and the "show" went off well. The only complaint is the teppanyaki portion was the same options with the same ingredients and the same moves that I've seen at other hibachi places I've been (I'm looking at you onion volcano!). Don't get me wrong, I'd go again but more variety would be welcome.
Ichiban is a fun eating experience for the whole family. It is a little pricey so I'd save it for special occasions, however the portions you receive do justify the price in my opinion. I always leave with enough food for atleast two days
This used to be our favourite place in Pittsburgh we’d honour of our way to eat here. Unfortunately, the atmosphere and food has badly suffered since our last visit. The teriyaki tofu menu ended up „deconstructed“. But the service took the cake. When we ordered she seemed to imply that we were ordering too much („you just ordered 6 sushi rolls?!?“ „why are you ordering miso soup when there’s soup included in the menu? (There are two of us?) „you do know the miso is a beef broth? (What? Why?!?) etc etc. in the end I left a tip on the table and walked to the front to pay where she caught me to make sure I paid with her directly. When I didn’t add a tip to the card payment she stared at me with a very direct/challenging/incredulous look. I held that stare for a bit and then said look, I left your tip on the table. I’ve never experienced anything like this before.
We have been here many times, and it’s great to see the quality and service consistently be so good. Of course, this is still not a high end place , which is why I’m not giving the food a five star, but for a nice family friendly local place, this place is awesome. Over time, we have also learned to try out different things on the menu, and still enjoy trying new things. I especially like the beef from the menu, and the ceviche salmon salad.
The steaks were overcooked. The half time show is what you would expect at a hibachi grill. I would definitely go back. It's a good place with an average rating.
The hibachi meal was good. Prices seemed high for quality of food received. My server was not very attentive with refills and checking to see if my party needed anything. The dinning experience felt rushed. Staff didn't appear very personable but rather miserable. Although it was a fun unique experience... I'm sorry but I wasn't very impressed.
We hadn't been here since covid hit and I was ready for a good dinner out. We sat at the hibachi with strangers, but safely distanced. There were 6 seated where typically there would be 8. Aside from the cheesy antics if the cook it was great. They must be required to do those silly things and honestly it makes me uncomfortable. But I'm there for the food and it does not disappoint. I had steak and scallops. My husband had steak and shrimp. Everything was cooked to perfection. The portions are huge so we each had plenty of leftovers to bring home too.
