Ice Age Trail Junction Area - Nature preserve in Verona - 7701 McKee Rd, USA

We parked here and hiked the ice age trail Verona segment (6.5 miles one way). Dogs are welcomed and must be on leash. Some parts of it is quite muddy, so come prepared. Beautiful hike with changing views.

We always have a nice time walking on the Ice Age Trail. Being the first warm day after winter, it was very wet in places. We turned around when we reached a giant puddle that spanned the entire path. I was sad to see copious amounts of dog poop along the path. We had to always be watching our step. Pretty gross but we still had a good walk!!

It's fine. It is not an especially special park - similar to Badger Prairie Park, which it connects to, in its features. If you want a near place to go on a walk, it will do the job. Otherwise, don't go out of your way to visit here.

A lovely little nature preserve in Verona! There's a parking lot off McKee road for cars. Visitors are free to go up in trails on foot or bike. Dogs are allowed with permits. This cool part of Verona is almost untouched and pretty. You can walk along the edge of it too if bugs are out. Super gorgeous and relaxing!

As a new Wisconsin resident I am always looking for new places to run after work without driving far away. At the moment (July 2017) this parking lot and entrance are under construction (part of the grass trail is marked closed), but you can still get there easily. Gorgeous prairies to run through, awfully buggy as is the norm for sunset here I guess, but so much better than running through neighborhoods. (For those curious, the asphalt path is about 1.15 miles long inside the park, the trails are longer as they wind around but didn't have a chance to run them yet)

Nice trail through the WI countryside. Great views of wetland habitats and woodland. Mostly gravel, some paved sections. A couple soft spots and minor washouts. Bridges are worn but sturdy.

Gorgeous! We ran 16 miles on this segment of the Ice Age Trail and evey mile was beautiful. One thing I wish I'd known: there is very little shade on many of the stretches, so make sure your prepared for lots of sunshine.

Very beautiful park in the Dane County Park system. Rolling hills festooned with a panoply of colors, and a fresh scent of wildflower perfumes fill the air at every fresh breath. Was there collecting wildflower seeds for the park system, on an official sponsored event for volunteers. Lots of good clean fun & exercise too! Gathered Showy Sunflower seeds, & native thistle.
