Beautiful historic bed & breakfast in Newport. Great location, within walking distance of most areas of town, close to trolly stops as well. We stayed in Little Red Veranda, a cute room with antiques. Breakfast was fabulous, served at the large dining room table, we were able to visit with other guests. Garden area and porches in the back were pretty and quiet. If you love historic architecture, visit Newport!
Expectations were really high for the Hydrangea House Inn, as it was my spouse's birthday, and he absolutely loves hydrangeas. Well, it did not disappoint -- on the contrary, our expectations were somehow exceeded. The inn is absolutely beautiful, with a stunning welcome/reception area and a courtyard area out back jam-packed with gorgeous hydrangeas of many varieties. The rooms were very well appointed, with recently refurbished showers and bathrooms. We adored our Garden Gate Cottage suite, which has a private entrance and living room. The highlight of the stay might actually be the breakfasts -- this is not your "free continental" spread found in so many inns. Over the two days, we had gourmet eggs florentine, blueberry pancakes, yogurt/fruit parfaits, scones and danishes, and delicious coffee and juices -- meals that would rival any paid breakfast at a nearby high-end restaurant. The wine & cheese happy hours featured a respectable selection of snacks and complimentary wine that was actually very good! The staff were all extremely helpful and cordial, and we would not hesitate to stay here again on our next visit to Newport.
Second time staying here and again, an excellent experience in every way possible. Great location (walking distance to everywhere you’d want to eat or sight see), great room (fireplace, hot tub, steam shower), great staff (greatly appreciate their friendliness and professionalism, a rarity these days!). Great in every way. Bonus: delicious breakfast served either in bed or in the dining room. Highly recommend. If 10 starts was on option, I’d give 11!

Highlights were the soaking tub, steam eucalyptus shower, amazing plated breakfast and wine hour! The location is great you are close to everything!!!! I will stay here anytime any day, all day year round. Currently thinking of my next stay
Had a small road trip with daughter recently and stayed at the HHI for the weekend. The staff was pleasant and helpful. Everything was clean and comfortable . The room was spacious and the bathroom was modern and clean. The mattress was comfortable and we both slept well. Breakfast was very nice. The afternoon wine and cheese could have been a slightly larger spread. The parking lot in the back was very convenient. It was a little over 1 mile to the Cliff Walk and many of the mansions We walked the entire time and it was a very pleasant walk . The location is great! There are many restaurants within walking distance . We would certainly stay again if we are in the area.
Comfortable and convenient accommodations for our stay in Newport. We parked our car on arrival and walked everywhere. Bed was comfortable and our room was clean and well appointed. Although the decor was dated and could use a refresh, it was all in good condition. The best asset of this inn is it's staff. They are warm, friendly and very helpful. Leave your skinny jeans at home as the breakfast is worth every single pound you may gain! Good value.
Wife and I stayed at the HHI, (May 2024) and we had a wonderful stay. The staff (Kim) and others were very friendly and accommodating. The room was nicely decorated and the bathroom spacious and clean. The Inn is located in walking distance to the mansions, Tennis HOF, various museums, warfs as well as various shops, bars and restaurants. ||The breakfast was delicious and although there is only one selection, what is provided has plenty of variety on one's plate to satisfy oneself. In the late afternoon there was wine and cheese to relax with before one heads out for dinner. ||My wife and I would certainly stay again at the HHI.
Lots of pluses make this an excellent place to stay. Free parking. Walking distance to everything. Nice, clean rooms. Everything included (no Internet fees). Coffee all day. A good breakfast (not the greatest we've had at a B&B ... but a good solid one. The afternoon wine and cheese was nice (though meager). Staff was excellent and when an issue arose, they took the initiative and communicated and resolved. You can stay in other places nearby and pay a whole iot more (but I wouldn't!).
