This is a beautiful place to stop and I want to stay in the cabins but we've only stopped for breakfast. The location is good, clean, service was friendly. The food is mediocre. Not anything that will knock your socks off but decent.
My family (4 adults, one child and 2 small dogs) just stayed 2 nights in cabin 25. The cabin was great. No complaints there. Day one we went to check out the lake. The water was very low and we were the only people there. My daughter had fun catching the baby bull frogs that were all over the bank. However when we went to leave we noticed probably 20 (at least) little worm looking things stuck to her feet. I'm not sure if they were immature leeches or copepods but either way it was quite traumatic. So obviously we didn't want to go anywhere near that lake for the remainder of our stay. Day 2 we rented a boat at Fish Lake (they were fantastic, highly recommend!). We left our 2 pups at the cabin. Upon return there was a post it note stuck to the door saying there had been numerous complaints about our dogs barking. Oh man, we felt terrible! We immediately apologized to our neighbors (who said they didn't complain as they didn't notice). The note said our dogs had to stay with us or go home. (Totally understandable! We definitely didn't want to be THOSE guests). Due to this, we decided to order dinner from the restaurant to go. My husband and I went to the restaurant where we apologized again for our disruptive dogs, ordered our food (for 5 people), ordered a couple drinks for while we were waiting and said we'd be at a table outside. We finished our drinks and waited. And waited. And waited. We saw people arrive, get their food and leave and still nothing for us. Finally a really sweet server named Sarah came over and asked if we needed anything. We let her know we were waiting for our to go order. She told us it was on the counter inside. She brought it out to us. I asked how long it had been sitting there. She said she didn't know, opened the top box and stuck her finger in the food (!!!). Obviously it was cold. She was apologetic and said she would have them remake it and would deliver it to our cabin. We had been there for over an hour at this point. She delivered as promised, with a comped drink for my husband, which was nice but maybe not quite enough? No apology from the server/maybe manager who took our order and then neglected to tell us it was ready. She had another opportunity to acknowledge/apologize the next day while we were checking out but did not. Only other complaint is that while sitting on the patio to eat at the restaurant you can watch all the cute little chipmunks running right into the kitchen. And while they are adorable, I imagine that is some sort of health code violation? Bottom line is the lake is pretty gross and the restaurant service is not stellar. We will probably not be returning. I would also like to add that there is a VERY strong septic odor all around the restaurant area. That's a bit off-putting to say the least.
What an amazing experience staying here! I recommend going a day or two after snowfall in the area. Hot tub was hot and stayed hot while we soaked after sledding up the road. The cabin was warm, comfortable beds, full kitchen, lots of pillows and blankets. The employees/owners are very nice and accommodating. We ate at the little restaurant for dinner one of the nights, the server was attentive and the food was good. I did deduct a star as within an hour of arrival all the power in the living room went out, so there was no wifi, no TV, and no crackling electric fireplace (was looking forward to that). All in all, I would visit again in a heartbeat! And probably stay for a week or so. Update: 10/03/2023 My sisters and I stayed for a girls weekend. The cabin's fireplace was once again inoperable, there was also no cell service or wifi, which wasn't listed before booking. Bloody Mary's at the bar were good! Lots of scenic views, and critters to watch.
This place was great for a spur-of-the-moment trip for my lil family! We had the hill to ourselves and there was tons of snow! But... I will add it adds up with there "hidden fees" such as $20 extra if you only stay one night, plus the $30 cleaning fee then even if you get a cabin for 6 people they charge you 10 per person if there I more than 2 people staying..... which I'm not really sure how that works, then a 10 per pet fee.... all in all our cabin we thought was going to be 179 maybe plus some taxes and some fees ended up being $285 for one night 😳 Over all it was clean, the restaurant is convenient for food/drinks and the sledding hill is just a couple mins up the road it was a little speedy but I think worth the memories made.
Nice little restaurant and store. The cabins looked really nice. The guided horse rides were just starting for the season which is pretty cool.
Cabin was amazing! Cozy and quiet. Sadly our hot tub was not working, but they did their best to try to get it going before we arrived. Unfortunately it did not happen. They did however do their best to make it up to us during our stay. They were very kind and helpful with any and all questions we had. We will definitely be visiting again!
Was a anniversary gift from our kids. Was able to fit 6 people, easily. Nice get away. Lake was way low on water was the only downside. On the main road, but very quiet, especially at nite. Loved the hot tub and the restaurant being right next to the cabin. Would love to go back in winter.
Cabin was clean and pleasant. was a bit small and didn't have and A/C, but we didn't mind. The restaurant is a nice little place. it really has a mom and pop style feel to it and the food it pretty good and affordable. I would of rated 4 stars but was a little thrown by a book we found in our cabin. I'm not a literature enthusiast and i could understand a story. But for me this was just a little strange and just made me uncomfortable. Other then this it wasn't bad. i would definitely come back in the future.
