Came here 2 years ago and absolutely loved it, unfortunately this time around was far below average. I used my World Of Hyatt credit card points for 2 free nights and I have never regretted it more in my life. First of all we arrived at 4 and was told the room wasn’t ready yet and they would text us when it was ready. Okay no big deal. Once 5 hit we got a bit annoyed and went back up to see if there was an update on our room, and yup it was ready and no one ever texted us. When we got to our room I felt like I was at a cheap motel. Everything felt super dingy, old, and gross. The bed was so stiff and we could hear every single movement from upstairs it was incredibly annoying. We were so excited when we checked out because we finally got out of there. We even overheard a couple talk about how downhill this place has gone and I couldn't agree more. I don't know if it was because I used my points to book our stay and we technically didn’t “pay” that we got a bad room/service, but either way I spend tens of thousands of dollars on their credit card every year the least I deserve is a decent room. It is very unfortunate that this hotel is losing its charm because it has so much potential. Unfortunately we don't think we’ll be coming back, especially now that rooms are $600+ a night for a motel 6 kind of room.

Our recent stay at the Hyatt Highlands Resort in Carmel, CA, was exactly the much-needed getaway and quick vacation our family was hoping for. Traveling with my husband and kids, we appreciated the creature comforts and convenience of having the extra space of the two-story townhouse we stayed in. The just wish the unit had a 2 queen bed unit vs. one king + sofa bed. The included full kitchen, equipped with a microwave and dishwasher, was a thoughtful touch. While we didn’t cook this time around, it was great to have a space to bring home leftovers from the delicious local restaurants and reheat them when the kids were suddenly hungry. That happens a lot in this house.||One of the highlights of our stay was breakfast at the onsite restaurant, Pacific's Edge. My teen son absolutely loved the Point Lobos breakfast, a decadent dish featuring Dungeness crab and creamy avocado, topped with perfectly poached eggs and rich hollandaise sauce. The freshness and luxurious flavors made it a standout meal of our trip for him. For me - it's all about the location and the views that go on for days! Dining on the outdoor patio, with the majestic Pacific Ocean as our backdrop, made the experience even more special. But time with my family - is always priceless. ||After breakfast, we headed to Point Lobos Park for some hiking and to soak in the stunning views even more. My kids brought their sense of adventure, water bottles, and loved checking out nature, the crabs, and seagulls in the distance. We were hoping to see otters, but maybe next time! The proximity to the park made our stay at Hyatt Highlands even more special, blending luxury with nature in a way that few places can.||It's a definite win in our book. Our time at Hyatt Highlands Resort was wonderful, and we look forward to returning for another family getaway. Highly recommended for anyone (kids or no kids) looking to combine relaxation and the perfect place to recharge.

We were in the area for a wedding and stayed at the Carmel Highlands for the stunning ocean view and the restaurant overlooking the beautiful cove. We drove to the town of Carmel and parked to walk around and see the storybook cottages, dine and shop. We easily found parking. Note that the Highlands is a little retro-dated in decor but really clean. It fits with the ocean vibe and the breathtaking iconic view.

We have stayed here a number of times before and just completed another stay this week. This resort consists of both a hotel and a timeshare and it does not appear that the rooms are used interchangeably. The timeshare section appears to be a joint marketing venture of both Hyatt and Marriott. We stay in the hotel section so my comments pertain primarily to it. This is an older classic hotel so those expecting furnishings equal to those at Park Hyatt or Ritz-Carlton hotels will be disappointed. The hotel has very high rates which primarily reflect its location- perched high up with spectacular ocean views from most rooms. We always stay in an Oceanview Townhouse Spa Suite. These have great views but are two story with 14 very steep stairs leading down to the bedroom, so not suitable for those with disabilities. The bedroom area has a large Jacuzzi tub. The rooms are spotless and housekeeping is excellent but they do show some minor wear and tear despite the resort trying to keep up with it. I highly recommend this resort. We have always had friendly and helpful service from the staff. One warning to those contemplating a stay in the near future: there was a sizeable landslide near the pool which will take some time to fix so the pool will not be available in the near future. The hot tub near the pool is available.

Sadly we will be checking out early of this hotel and moving elsewhere. The room and service do not match the price at all. On arrival there was no one to greet us at our car and no welcome drink. We couldn’t get a glass of wine after 10pm after a long drive, as the restaurants and bars shut, and there is no room service option. On arrival in our room, we were very disappointed by the basic standard. Our room was very dated and needs refurb. The mini fridge was so noisy we had to unplug it to be able to sleep, and we could hear every movement and conversation of the person staying in the room above us, including at 4am! There were no in-wall accessible plugs for us to charge our electronics. The shower only caters for those below 5ft5 and is over a bath with very poor drainage. The blind had wear and tear with holes in it and the walls need repainting. Hugely disappointing as the images online make this hotel look fabulous, but I strongly recommend you read all the reviews before booking. It is not worth the money and we would not recommend this hotel if you like a bit of luxury and want a undisturbed sleep. In reality and after staying in many hotels across California, this is a $150 a night hotel maximum, yet they charged us $650 a night. Expectations were not met.

Views from the Hyatt Highlands in Carmel are amazing. The lounge and restaurant had excellent food. I wish there were ceiling fans in the room. We had to use box fans and no air conditioning. I am guessing most people think it is “cold” here. But after a long day of travel or being out in the sun all day some relief would be nice. We easily made the one bedroom into a two bedroom. Pull out bed was very comfortable.

This was the second time my wife, daughter and I have stayed at the Carmel Highlands. This place is stunningly beautiful! The staff are very helpful. Our rooms were clean and ready for us. The front desk staff were helpful in relieving out lost luggage from the airline. The views from the bar and dining room as well as the lounge are jaw dropping. Truly a visual feast for the eyes.

This was our first time at this hotel. The room was dated, moldy, mildew, and a musty smell. The stench was awful. We saw black mold on the baseboards in the bathroom . ||The ocean view from the front balcony was beautiful. | The view from the back balcony was a disgrace... a closed fenced/ blocked off pool and a mud slide with a purple tarp & sandbags to hold back the mud . Also, there were sandbags on the ground everywhere. || My husband and I spoke to the manager on duty. We expressed how disappointed we were with the room. We decided it was best to get a full refund and find another place to stay.
