I like this beach. It's close to Hampton and you can actually see the sunset here! Yay! However, it's pretty dark water and did look like there was some trash in it which didn't make me want to swim. There is a boat launch but didn't look like much beach area to go for a walk. Tons of parking available.
Nice low key beach, it was easy to keep track of the kids, calm waters, close parking and right near a bathroom, perfect for a family beach day. There was trash in the water and towards the end a lot of debris washed forward making it unpleasant to get in.
Great looking park close to town. Nice beach area to swim in and a awesome boat ramp right next to it. Two concrete ramps and good docks to tie to. It’s free to launch and no fees for park. They have a pier you can fish off that was an old bridge it’s $10 dollars a person to go out on to fish.
Came to just sit and watch the sunset on the water.
It's a nice little beach... a little dirty and some shady folks hang around... deffinately lock your car!!
A nice little beach on the James River. Seasonal lifeguards present 10-6. Plenty of birds to watch. Water only waist deep on adults and no big waves so a good spot for kids to swim. Parking is close to the beach and free though there are some stairs depending on where you enter from. Public bathrooms are not great, lots of paper towel wads stuck to the ceiling but still not the worst bathrooms I've seen. Beach is pretty quiet on a Sunday morning, a group came out for baptisms at 8am but left within 45 minutes.
I never thought that I would see a sunset over the ocean while visiting the East Coast. But when my friends took me here we got to see it. It was a clean beach, not a whole lot of people, and had a great feel to it. I felt lucky to be there and to witness such a beautiful site and share it with others.
Great little spot! Went on a week day and it was not crowded. Lots of children there for my son to play with. BEAUTIFUL SUNSET! It was very lovely and peaceful!
