Devil's Honeycomb was very cool to see first hand. Pictures on the site don't do it justice. It's a short hike, but a good one to get the heart pumping. It was hot out today. No bugs! We came from MN and did not have any idea what to expect. We were impressed.
Great hike to see amazing Devils Honeycomb. Not a bad hike. I would not say easy as you are climbing but definitely worth it especially if you want to watch the sunset.
It's a beautiful 1.5 mile hike. 3/4 there and 3/4 back. We went on a warm and windy day and were not to hot. There are a lot of beautiful rock formations. It is a dog friendly trail, just be mindful of hot and/or sharp rocks on your pups feet. While the trail is short, most of it is up a fairly steep incline. Still a gorgeous view at the top.
Absolutely stunning! Great paths, beautiful sights.
Absolutely killer hike up to an incredible series of rocky glades. Lots of very cool columnar basalt to hop around on and the views are almost 270 degrees around. 2 miles total up and back including some scrambling up top. Definitely a must-see hike in Missouri.
This is a really cool hike up Hughes Mountan. The hike to the top is all up hill but not very long maybe a mile and a half to the summit. The top is a glad with some of the oldest exposed rock in the United States and the view is pretty nice too.
It was definitely unlike anything I've seen before. once you make it to the top, it's pretty cool. The hike is not well kept in parts, and it can be narrow at times too, but it was ok. I'd recommended a walking stick as there are a lot of loose rocks and it can be steep.
This is a great hike and a nice resource in the conservation department’s properties. The hike is up hill and back down, but not too strenuous. Well marked path, but in the glade area take advantage of the openness to see more. Great views from the top. Very interesting rock formations for those that are rock lovers or geologists. Rhyolite formation with the only example of columnar jointing one missouri that I’m aware of. Used to take my intro to geology class here on field trips. Just of note, no facilities are available on the natural area and it’s a ways from any other resources such as gas stations or convenience stores.
