This is the perfect place for a large gathering, such as a wedding, family reunion, or youth group adventure on a budget. There is plenty of room to sit and visit or play games, or hold a meeting. That said, it is easy to find a quiet spot to get away for meditating or reading. Plentiful home-cooked comfort food is served family-style. The facility was built for large youth groups, with one large dorm and bathroom for women and another for men. However it is often possible to partition areas for family groups. There are NO private rooms or cabins. Hoyfjellet Lodge is for people who are looking for quality time together. The lodge is situated in the heart of a year-round recreation area. In summer, you can enjoy hiking trails, swimming in clear mountain lakes, rock climbing, and exploring Indian petroglyphs or Chinese railroad worker campsites. In winter, you can alpine ski at any of 4 ski areas located within a couple of miles of the lodge or enjoy cross-country skiing at Royal Gorge, North America's largest Nordic ski area or Auburn Ski Club, who's trail is literally right outside the back door! You can also go snow shoeing, sledding, and other free snow play right outside the lodge. If you are looking for somewhere to host an event or gather with a large group of family or friends, but don't want to break anyone's budget, this is the place for you.

I come here almost every winter for New Year's Day. It's owned by my great aunt and uncle and the view the lodge offers is always breathtaking.
