Howard Johnson by Wyndham Salinas - Featured Reviews (329)
Rooms look recently remodeled but are dirty. Ironing board missing in one room. Another iron did not work. Mold in the bathroom. Photos on different profiles show a breakfast bar but was told there was none when we arrived. “Women of the night” operate out of this hotel. We booked several rooms here for a youth group trip for the Salinas and Monterey areas. Our group has several teenagers. One night as we came back to the hotel, we had to pass by two women coming into the parking lot wearing nothing but a bra top, thong and high heels. The women appeared to be on their way to complete their nightly business. Don’t stay here.
The place from outside looks well manicured, when I went into lobby to check in, reception area was clean and the check in process went very smooth. The room had an overwhelmed smell of floor cleaner, yet the room was very dirty all over. The bathroom towels had yellow stains, the hand towel looked like were been used with wrinkles and black spots on them and the face towel were grayish white. Yes, I did shower respite that, ( I travel with my own towels.) after I showered walked around the room barefoot and my feet got filthy black 👣 the floor were very dirty. The door was filthy too. 🤮🤮🤮🤮. I did not read the reviews until today. As for the community service worker activity that other people have mentioned in their review 100% true. Is a very busy hotel from that aspect. You might want really consider staying at a Hayward Johnson by Wyndham. This was my first time staying at one of their hotels and most definitely i will think about it twice before I book with them.
Bed were comfortable but the rest of the stay felt unsafe. Area is surrounded by homeless and prostitutes. Many people lucking throughout the property late in the evening around bedtime. Don't count on any coffee or juice when you wake up. They advertise it as an option but its a lie. For your safety and piece of mind, look elsewhere.
Just spent two nights, the worst experience ever. People on third floor made so much noise all night , til 4:30 am.
People coming and going , talking , walking outside our doors non-stop. Calling the front desk accomplished nothing. Another guest from the same floored called as well, to no avail. A few men started knocking on our doors a 3:30 am. I let them know they were knocking on wrong doors. The ladies and their many visitors were in a room next to mine. Staff , nonexistent. Also floors were disgusting and you need to run water for 10 minutes before it gets hot.
Never again! We visit salinas 4 weekends a year.
Warning- DON'T STAY HERE EVEN IF YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT. I paid $160 incl. taxes for this hotel. It was last minute booking since I had older partners with me however the hotel was extremely DISGUSTING. We found a used underwear in the icebox!!! There was a number of other issues like uncleaned hair on pillows and bathroom fan cover falling down. What more do I need to stay about the level of service and cleanliness. They did change our room after asking but even the other room hd torn blankets. We were so tired after all this that we gave up and decided to somehow sleep at night. I booked via Priceline and all they offered as compensation is 15% off!!! Don't ever stay in this hotel- you have been warned.
Very very very bad experience.
People shouting and abusing at night in the parking lot, rooms are dirty and nasty, got 2 rooms and both of them had a pungent smell, torn up towels/bedsheets, clocked us out at 10 am early instead of 11 am once we complained, no service lady to help at the front reception, no cleaning lady to clean the rooms, spots on the bedsheets, mattress, used Q tips, toothpaste stains on the blankets, used floss sticks on the ground. Please don’t step into this property 🙏
GOOD AREA, BAD ROOM.
The hotel is situated in a good part of the town. My room was close to the laundry room and an everyday noise interrumpted my sleep. Since I work 12 hours shift as a nurse, I couldn't sleep during the day. The Mattress was too old and shifted to one side. The pillows were too small, not a normal side. It did not have a closet or hangers for my uniforms or an iron. I informed the clerk and I got a new iron. I left the hotel one night before the check out day.
The first room we got into had a very dirty sink and the room smelled like cigarettes. We then got a second room and the second room had water and dirt around the toilet. We decided not to switch rooms again because I'm sure the 3rd one couldn't be much better. I do not recommend this hotel at all.
We started here as part of a three winery tour on a Saturday. We were the only people there early in the day, and we had a long visit with the winemaker. The setting is perfection! We loved the wines. We would definitely recommend, and we will defini
