The staff were great in helping me during my delay in the Detroit airport. After dealing with the flight delays/cancellations and the extremally long lines for help I finally had my flight rebooked and was ready to find a place to sleep at 2am. The Howard Johnson staff answered their phone quickly and was very helpful in keeping a room available as I made my way to their hotel. She sent the shuttle quickly and he was waiting when I emerged at the ground transportation pick up point. The drive was very short and check in was easy. The room was spacious and clean but showed signs of wear and in need of an update. The price was expensive but with everyone needing a place to stay while Delta struggled with the IT outage I was just happy to have a room. It was very quiet and I did get some good sleep. Breakfast was very very basic, a bagels, a few cereals, hard boiled eggs, coffee and some sort of juice. Would I stay again? If in a pinch like I was yes, otherwise I would look for a different place. Staff was great and I truly appreciate them finding me a room so late.

We got stuck staying at this hotel because it was the only option after our flight was canceled at midnight. I've stayed at more than one Motel 6 in my life along with luxury properties, and this hotel was by far the worst I've ever seen. First of all, it's supposed to be a smoke free property, but everything from the lobby to the rooms stunk of smoke. My husband saw the cleaning staff smoking coming out of a room which could explain it. The first room we had was super strong smelling. We were at least able to get moved to one that didn't smell quite as strongly, but it still smelled-even the sheets. The tub had rusted areas in it. The top to the toilet tank had a large piece cracked off that they taped on with packing tape. Everything about this hotel was just absolutely disgusting. The only good thing I can say about it is that it has an airport shuttle and the check-in process didn't take too long. Oh, they also price gouge you-we were charged well over $300 for our night there. Stay away at all costs if you can!

We (five adults and infant) stayed here overnight after arriving via a long-haul flight from Australia. We booked three rooms. Two rooms were fine, but the third had a noisy aircon and smelled of smoke but it was clean. You get what you pay for, so don't expect a first class hotel. Would I stay again? yes I would given the price. Helpful tips... free shuttle (ring hotel from LAX to ensure pickup), good free breakfast, nice reception lady, if you get the dodgy noisy room ask for another :-)

Great stay, particularly before a flight. No complaints: room was clean, comfortable, and hotel felt very safe. Friendly staff at check-in, comfy bed, and well maintained property. Air conditioning worked very well. The restroom was a bit small with a few scratches on the tub but not a meaningful issue. Overall: I can comfortably recommend a stat here and will visit again in the future.

This was the perfect place for a park, sleep, fly situation. The room was clean, it was very quiet on our floor, and we felt very safe. We went downstairs to leave at 4:45am for our flight and the shuttle was already waiting for us outside. When we got back to the Detroit airport, the shuttle came to pick us up within 10 minutes of me calling the hotel. Our car was waiting for us safe and sound. Had a great experience staying here and would stay here again for early morning flights.

I was having a really long layover in Detroit Metropolitan Airport, so I decided to get a hotel room. This hotel was close to airport and they had free shuttle bus to/from DTW. I arrived at the airport, called the hotel and they sent the shuttle to the special area at the airport called "shuttle parking". It took me a while to find where this "shuttle parking" was, but I found it and the shuttle was waiting for me there. Then we went to the hotel, check-in was smooth. The room was clean and renovated, I went straight to sleep because I was really tired. The area was quiet so I slept well. Detroit has a bad reputation in the media, but where hotel is located it's pretty peaceful. Please note there is an incidental deposit that you have to pay before you check in. If you pay by credit card, they make an actual charge, not a credit hold like other hotels, so if you are using foreign credit card, you will see an actual charge in USD, then when you check out they will return the money back, but your bank will charge you for USD conversion. I suggest if you can, pay incidental deposit in cash, so that you avoid foreign currency transaction fee with your bank. Early next morning at 4AM I checked out and the shuttle bus took me to back to the airport without any issues. Overall it was a good stay and I wouldn't mind staying here again if I am ever back in DTW.

Dirtiest hotel I've every stayed in. So bad that we chose not to shower until we got home. The room at first glance looks nice because it looks more modern, but it was not clean at all. Our friends stayed in a different room and said the same thing. On top of all this, the lobby was being renovated and there was tile dust everywhere in the air. I had to put my face in my shirt to go in and checkout. This was not only bad practices but not safe for the employees stuck breathing it in without a respirator mask and us, THE GUESTS. I was shocked they chose to do this. This was over 6mo ago and things could've changed but I did call and say I felt ripped off and was advised to contact Wyndham rewards since I'm a rewards member and used my points. I got nowhere with my complaints so this is definitely warranted. Worst hotel experience I've ever had in my life.

The woman at the front desk was god awful. She was SO slow, and kept answering phone calls while guests in the lobby were waiting. She FINALLY got me my key, I go to my room, the beds are dirty, unkept, there is dirty tissue all over the flower. The walk to the room there was a dirty condom and takeout food trash. It was truly the most disgusting experiences I've ever had at a hotel. Even for the price, it's awful. Would give zero stars if I could.
