Howard Johnson by Wyndham Gallup - Hotel in Gallup - 2915 W Historic Hwy 66, USA

It's an older retro hotel, but I love it. I stay here for business whenever I am coming through. The staff are fantastic and the breakfast is a real warm breakfast not just cereal. They have a great recycled metal art showcase in the lobby that is awesome. They are still updating the hotel so some things aren't finished yet.

I had stayed in this hotel 3 times prior and had an amazing experience. I booked this trip with two others expecting a good stay. However, upon arrival, the man at the counter spoke way too fast, and appeared annoyed at needing to repeat. Plus, he asked me twice to declare my pets though I had none. He did not give info about breakfast, nor info about smoking areas. When I called to ask where the my guests could smoke, he demanded we couldn't smoke in the room. Also, there was no hot water in the room. I really enjoyed the previous stays at this hotel, and have good experience with Wyndham in general, but this was subpar. Hopefully, this helps improve for the next person.

Quirkiest, retro hotel with film fan surprises! At first look, driving down the rather desolate side road along hwy 40 towards the hotel, you start to rethink where you have just reserved.. However, upon arrival, you enter the spacious lobby a strewn with fabulous metallic art sculptures, depicting a Predator, Alien and Game of thrones throne. Chelsea at the Front Desk could not have been nicer! We were in room 113, 1st floor with outside door access to back your car up right to your door for easy unloading. Room had a super cute retro feel with vibrant colors and artful lighting. The window was covered in a film where you could easily see out but others could not see in. Double room came with mini fridge, microwave, and nice sized table & chairs to eat at too. |You must stroll the lobby to capture all the unique metal art! Unfortunately, looks like another wing of hotel that used to have a cafe was closed off, visible roof damage-that’s a shame. But ridiculously spacious lobby and lounge area…tons of seating. |Complimentary hot breakfast was pretty darn good… eggs, pots, sausage, yogurt, toast, fruit… lots of goodies to fill ya up. |While the surrounding area seemed a bit desolate, save the neighboring RV park, the place was very quiet and we had no issues. Not only would we stay again but plan to next week!

The kids and I ended up staying here last minute because it took us much longer to get into the state as we were driving from California. The place was very quiet and clean. The lobby was huge with many interesting statues and art pieces. Price was reasonable. Would recommend.

I was really pleased with this hotel. Gallup is a rougher town in general so I was apprehensive to stay the night there but it's what worked best with my travel plans. This hotel was a good choice, the lobby is really neat and artsy, front desk lady was polite, room was clean, breakfast was good. No complaints, if if I ever need to stay in Gallup again, I'll stay here.

Positive: Howard Johnson in Gallup NM was a hidden gem. Clean and comfortable at a bargain price. To our delighted surprise a HOT breakfast was included and it was good. Extremely pleased. Negative: A $100 deposit is required at this hotel check-in. That info and amount needs to be be highlighted at booking instead of a surprise at check-in Negative: ""

Positive: Rooms are large with appropriate amenities, and very comfortable beds! Extremely clean room! Staff go out of their way to make the traveler feel welcome, and the morning breakfast (eggs,potatoes, sausage, coffee, juice)were appreciated. Negative: No Negative: ""

Positive: Inside the room was fairly nice and very clean. Negative: The hotel exterior was in disrepair. The inside was dated but appeared to be clean. Not in a good part of town. We almost left, but the room inside was okay, so we stayed. We didn?t feel unsafe. Repair work is being done, may be better in future.
