House Wine & Bistro in McAllen is an absolute gem! I've been coming here for the past 10 years, and it's always been a hit. During my recent visit, our group enjoyed an exceptional dining experience. We ordered a variety of dishes, including the grilled panela, putanesca risotto with pan-seared salmon, lamb chops, ribeye, and pesce risotto. Everything was outstanding. The only minor hiccup was that the putanesca risotto was a bit on the salty side, but the staff was quick to address the issue, exemplifying their commitment to customer satisfaction. This level of service truly sets House Wine & Bistro apart. And, I can't forget to mention that the Italian donuts were absolutely amazing - the perfect sweet ending to a fantastic meal. To complement our meal, we ordered a bottle of Susana Balbo Malbec, which paired beautifully with the dishes. If you're looking for a reliable spot for excellent food and a delightful dining experience, House Wine & Bistro is the place to be. Ten years of consistently great visits speak volumes about the quality and excellence you can expect here. Five stars all the way!

Getting to a table is challenging as the tables are so close they leave little to no room to walk thru. We sat at a round table for ten, it was difficult to have a conversation due to it being too loud due to other patrons. We were served a five course meal, the servers were very knowledgeable and friendly. I was not impressed with the pairing given every wine was too sour. Possibly this should be an acquired taste. Cheese and charcuterie was great, insalata was good except wine was too sour for me, the antipasto salmon was good a little on the salty side, the wine was too sour, the grilled picanha was delicious, the wine was much better than previously served wines, the pork chop Marsala was a low grade cut of pork, too much uneatable fat embedded in the pork, wine was OK, the cookie dough was too dry, the Kahlua gran marinier was so strong I couldn't drink it.

Very nice place to try good Italian food. The service was very fast, prices are a bit high but it's totally worth it. We got a Mezcal shot that was very very good (it was made out of an agave called Madre Cuixe), the waitress helped us to choose some of our dishes and everything was delicious. As appetizers we got the mushrooms (which come with some Italian sausage) and the bee sting spianata which even though it comes with honey habanero, it's not spicy at all, the sweetness and spiciness is very sutil. To eat we got the lamb chops which were very tender and perfectly cooked, it comes with a salad that was also very good. On the other hand we got the Pasta Salcicce which was also extremely good. No wonder why this restaurant is one of the top across all eateries in McAllen.

Was traveling for work and decided to stop here based on Trip Advisor reviews. Was going to go to Salt but so glad I didn’t (that’ll be another review!) I made a reservation just in case but was able to be seated promptly. The service was fantastic and the food was divine! I took the servers and managers recommendations and they didn’t disappoint. The Yahweh salad is soooo good, the lime shrimp, the drink, dessert, all of it was fantastic! I’m sad I didn’t go back here the next night! I’ve learned my lesson! Management also comes around and talks to you. They don’t just ask you if your food is okay, they talk to you like you’re a long lost friend. I appreciated it. And the temperature in the restaurant was nice and cool. Will definitely be going back here!

I'm a sucker for a good steak, and House Wine & Bistro did not disappoint. The ribeye was cooked perfectly medium rare, and the flavor was out of this world. The meat was so tender that it melted in my mouth, and the juices just oozed out. The service was also excellent. Our waiter was attentive and knowledgeable, and he made sure that we had everything we needed. He even recommended a bottle of red wine that was the perfect pairing for our steak. The chef even stopped by the table to say hello. He was genuinely interested in our experience, and he took the time to answer our questions about the menu. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and a memorable event. I highly recommend House Wine & Bistro to anyone looking for a great steak dinner.

Excellent food. The garlic lime shrimp was bordering on too much salt, but that almost too much is what I loved. The pork burger was very juicy and excellently cooked; nice blend of ground pork, with the cheese, bacon and wine-sauteed onions was excellent. Our waiter was very cordial and helpful, but I think they were slightly understaffed as I only saw two waiters, and even though we went after the lunch rush, they were pretty busy multitasking. Overall, 4.4 stars. Will be back!

This place was amazing!!! Right when we walked in the staff greeted us immediately, and the owner introduced himself. After we were seated, I wasn’t sure what I wanted and the waitress recommended so many good options and even let my friend try duck for the first time even though she’s never eaten duck before we ordered our meal and the food was so flavorful and the atmosphere of the restaurant felt warm and cozy. Definitely a must visit place if you’re ever in McAllen.
