House By the Sea - Bed & breakfast in Ocean Grove - 14 Ocean Ave N, USA

I called here for a last minute booking fully expecting to hear they had no availability. The woman on the phone got short with me and said “not for one night I don’t.” As someone who manages an Airbnb, I understand that a single night stay at a place like this is not always worth the hassle, but o figured for a place with multiple rooms where housekeeping would come anyway, it might be worth it to fill a room with last minute notice. Glad we didn’t stay here. Hopefully they’re nicer to their guests.

My family and I have loved being here as long as I can remember, this is the only House By The Sea for me… And my friends… Thank you!

Beautiful view from 3 different porches and from various rooms; make sure you wake up to see the sunrise over the ocean from the porch or even your room; comfortable, clean, cozy; wonderful owner & management; water, soda, ice tea, available for just $1 throughout your stay; great for solo travelers and couples; quiet enough for children and everyone to get a good night sleep

This place is absolutely a gem! Incredibly sweet staff cozy rooms and the location is absolutely amazing walk out the door and there's the beach. There's a playground less than a 3-minute walk. Everything is accessible by walking from this location. You won't regret it. I even forgot my sandals and the staff supplied me with some to borrow how sweet of them. Ty so very much David T

This place is the best. A throw back to a better, simpler time. There are so many nice things about it, starting with the 3 gorgeous large porches with the best view of the ocean on the whole Jersey shore! And so much more!!

My friend and I decided to go to the beach last minute.We just drove the 2 hours to ocean grove and figured we would find a room once we got there. |I checked my hotels app and Expedia and found nothing close or inexpensive. So we walk on the boardwalk and my friend starts talking to a woman on the bench. Luckily she gave us a couple of phone numbers to call for local bed and breakfast spots. |Turns out the place had a small room available for a decent price. Yes we took it! It was a basic room,no AC, in the back of the house on the second floor. We had to share a bathroom but it was clean comfortable and directly across from the beach. The pavilion was very close. Perfect location. |I will agree the place is basic, the people were not warm and welcoming, but the room fit our needs. |I would go back based on the location. I was visiting for the church experience and the beach so I normally only use a room to shower and sleep. We had a perfect view of the sunrise and fireworks from the porch. Overall great getaway!|

I'd really like this place to be my family's little secret, but the truth is that so many families have been coming here for so many years, even before the present owners... If for nothing else than the unsurpassed views and comfortable lounges on the porches which are free to anyone staying here, it deserves 5 stars. Will you get a velvet robe or a big room? More likely outdated decor and quaint bedding - There are some new features including the shared kitchen area in the basement and updated furnishings and decor in some rooms. Nice family-run spot that i don't think i could live a summer without visiting... I love The House By The Sea.

My husband and I have stayed here several times in the last few years for business and pleasure, every time is pleasant. We love that it is right across the street from the beach and offers one beach pass. All the rooms we've stayed in were clean and comfortable. We love Ocean Grove and always recommend this b&b to our friends and family!
