My son and I just completed an enjoyable three night stay at the Phillips. This was my second stay here and it seems the hotel has improved in meaningful ways. Our rooms, 1501 and 1502 and bathrooms were spotlessly cleaned and refreshed daily. Beds and pillows very comfortable. Though the hotel had many guests it was quiet and we slept well. Car valet service 24/7 was generally prompt but at check in times there were 15-20 minute waits. Nice coffee bar off the lobby and the speakeasy bar in the lower level had great cocktails and the nicest bartender. Jazz group was playing too!. Staff is really pleasant and go out of their way to be of assistance. Lots of interesting places in easy walking distance making this a great location - Power & Light District with tons of bars and restaurants, River District and some of the best dining in KC like Mildred's, Majestic and Savoy Grill. I love art deco restored downtown hotels and the Phillips checks all the boxes for me.

We enjoyed our stay here. The check in process was smooth and quick. There were several people checking in at the same time but the staff was efficient and professional. The room was clean, spacious, and comfortable. The shower was amazing and HOT. Conveniently located as well. We stayed in their king deluxe room, which I recommend if you have a kiddo in a pack n play because of the way the room is set up. My reservation clearly stated this, but just in case you missed it there is not a parking lot to self park in. You can find street parking or use the valet for $42/ day. For me, the valet was well worth it. Fast and professional. I’d book here again!

Great location. Beautiful decor. Dreadful customer service. Disappointing overall experience. No fridge or microwave in room. Fruit flies were all over my food the entire time in the Italian restaurant there. The valet is the most unprofessionally run operation I have ever witnessed in the hospitality business. They lost my keys to my rental and I was two hours late to my conference (WHERE I WAS SUPPOSED TO BE PRESENTING) because the valet took the keys home with him, and our access passes were locked in the vehicle. The manager assured me that the valet charges would be taken off my bill and that I would be somehow compensated, neither of which happened. The speakeasy, however, is absolutely fantastic, and may honestly be the best hidden gem in the entire city.

The walls are razor thin, you can hear every door slam (why does everyone love to slam their door the hardest they can?), and every ding dong who wanted to peel out on the street. Have a white noise device on blast with ear plugs. The shower would not drain and the plug wouldn’t stay up so I had to grab the plug every 30 seconds or so to drain. The room was squeaky clean and the amenities were nice. Not worth the price though.

The rooms were okay but lacked mini fridge and the bathroom was pretty cramped. The walls are also extremely thin as we could hear everything from the next door rooms. Sunday morning breakfast spread was worse than a Hampton Inn in express and there was only one staff working the restaurant area. Great location but I would recommend skip this place to go to any better more modern hotel in the area

My fiance & I came in town for a wedding. Check in is not until 4pm, the wedding was at 5pm. I called the hotel FOUR times within a span of a month, 2 on the day of, to make sure we were marked down for early check in and it would be no issue. I was told check out is at 11am and if I showed up @ 2pm (the time I requested/thought was an appropriate and respectful time to ask to show up early and still have enough time to get ready for this very important event), it would be no problem at all. |My fiancé and I are LGBTQ so I don’t know if what to follow is because of discrimination or just terrible hotel staff and management as a whole but we showed up and every single person we came in contact with (AARON, COURTNEY and FOWZIA) were extremely rude, sassy, confrontational or dismissive. Fowzia checked us in and checked us out; she wouldn’t make eye contact, didn’t tell us what room we were in, gave us no direction at all after giving us the key and made zero attempts at having customer service skills for that position. My finance attempted to talk to Courtney about our check in, she proceeded to roll her eyes and give them attitude so I went up there WITH my fiance to try to explain we had already called the hotel prior & Courtney talked to me and referred to my fiance as if they were not standing RIGHT NEXT TO ME at the desk. After already dealing with having to come up with a plan B to get ready, we showed back up after 4pm to check in and THE ROOM WAS DIRTY. Trash was left under the bed. Dirty Q-tips were still behind the toilet on the ground. I am very unimpressed by this hotel, its staff and how they handled the situation. The only positive I have to say is it was a 4 minute walk to our location for the wedding and that made it an easy commute over there in our fancy clothes but thats a positive on us for choosing a great location and absolutely nothing to do with the hotel itself.

I actually had a really nice time at this hotel, the bistro was great w great service from James, speakeasy was cool, and very convenient location. Room had good products and the bed was comfortable. However; this this hotel is pretty old and things like the toilet constantly running water unless you jiggle the handle made the stay a little less than idea. The biggest issue is that the electric sockets are TOAST and if you don’t set your plug in just right it will disconnect overnight and not charge your phone leaving you late for a meeting. Moral of the story is ask for a wake up call at this hotel to avoid what I had to deal w.

Had a quick trip back to KC and had to come back to this beautiful hotel. I absolutely love the speakeasy and the French toast. If you're lucky enough to meet Linda have her show you the beautiful Crystal ballroom. She was such a delight and was so happy to show us around even though she was busy. |Besides the historical beauty of this hotel, the beds are soft and comfortable, the bathrooms are large, and the staff is great. Fozia checkered me in, and she was so helpful and friendly.
