Hotel Mint JFK Airport - Featured Reviews (487)
This hotel is awful—it is a drug haven and hazardous. For the sake of everyone's safety, the police must actually look into this hotel and shut it down. Cockroaches in the toilets and bedbugs in the bed make a lot of noise. The hotel is located in a dangerous area. If you are not careful, you can get rubbed. Avoid going to this hotel as staying at an airport is more luxurious than staying at this one. For your own sake, kindly stay away from this hotel.
My significant other & I stayed here once before. This time, our room key deactivated the day before we checked out, the maintenance staff was condescending & made snarky remarks & the front desk staff pretended to be helpful in fixing my key problem, but it didn't work. Overall, the room was clean & well air conditioned, the mini fridge was nice & cold & our smart TV worked.
Delta cancelled my flight. That was the only place available. I didn't read reviews before.... Given it's a 2 star hotel, I didn't expect much.|Arrived at 2:30am. Person at the counter was helpful. Ordéred a taxi for us.|Bathroom was clean. The sheets not very clean.|I checked for bed bugs. Didn't see any so I went to sleep for 4 hours.|Wanted to take a shower in the morning. Cold water, but waited few minutes and then got hot water.|Noticed that the room had a fridge and there were microwaves at the entrance. Of course for this short stay I didn't use either one.|Not recommended, but was ok for what I needed.|Heard from 2 other people from our flight. One had a similar experience. The other one had worse. Reading the reviews and hearing this,I will not go back even in a similar situation.
Checked in For short stay (5hours) As I came for my 16 hour shift (nurse). This stupid hotel doesn’t want to accept card payment for short stay. ATM machine is broken. So I am checked in from 9 to 2Pm. This stupid Indian housekeeping banged my door at 12pm yelling i need to check out. We had an argument and I said I paid for five hours. The receptionist did not inform the guy that I paid for short hours and should be checked out 15 minutes after 2 PM. The room is dirty, but I had no choice because I was so sleepy. I do not recommend this place specially to travel nurses like me.
This was the worst stay ever. We selected due to a long layover - so just to sleep. When we pulled up and saw the subway line we expected that to be an issue but it was not. A fire alarm kept going off all night - no evacuations and no answer when we called the front desk. We opened our door to see what was going on to be engulfed in smoke - marijuana smoke. It was so bad. Then we spotted two roaches roaming the room. The shower water pressure was limited and the furniture in the room was falling apart. We did grab dinner across the street and the people around seemed nice. $250 for the room and $80+ for round trip from airport. We should have paid more and stayed closer.
I recently stayed at this hotel and it was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. Despite its seemingly decent appearance upon entering, the reality of the stay was far from acceptable.
Firstly, the hotel's location is misleading – it is not close to the airport as advertised. Upon walking to our room, we were greeted with an overpowering smell of cigarettes and a pervasive wet, musty odor.
The first room we were assigned had a completely broken door lock, making it possible to push the door open without any effort. This posed a significant security concern and was utterly unacceptable.
I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. The issues with cleanliness, safety, and misleading location information made for a highly disappointing stay.
DON'T STAY HERE! All the previous bad reviews were all true!
Had a missed connection, no choice but to layover in JFK. All nearby hotels were crazy expensive. Found this cheaper one on Expedia. Made a mistake by not reading reviews before booking. Biggest mistake of my life!
Location is in an unsafe, ghetto part of Queens. Lots of frequent violence and crimes according to my local uber driver. I arrived at 1.30am and was already hearing people quarreling on the street. I walked into hotel and front desk was barricaded with thick transparent glass to prevent intruders. I guess that's a telling sign. I have never seen this anywhere else in the world.
Front desk was totally unfriendly. You walk into the corridors of the rooms and immediately you smell weed everywhere. Other rooms were either talking loudly or blasting loud music.
My room was old and smelt of weed. Everything seemed they're from the 1980s. People were quarreling and shouting on the street in the middle of the night. I did not go out at all as it was so unsafe outside.
Couldn't wait to check out to head to the airport. Never felt so unsafe in my life.
My uber driver who picked me up said he almost did not take my call because he doesn't want to come to this dangerous area.
Stay elsewhere and save your own life!
Horrible!
Horrible!
